With the Jages signing Douglas, Tony Brackens is sure to hit the market in June. Is he worth backing off of Holliday and waiting for? He's injury prone, but more of the pure pass rusher we need. Any ideas?

for what it's worth

Clayton said on ESPN radio on Saturday that he had microfracture surgery.

I'll wait to see a few more successful comebacks with that before I bite. Unless it's a contract with a low-base and a heavy dose of incentives----something we don't do.

The Cards have been bitten enough with the microfracture bug, I don't think they need to risk it again.

If he is healthy, this guy has got pretty good stats; better than Holliday (regarding sacks). Maybe someone for the Cards to keep an eye on?

No. Not at all.

Brackens should sue the Jaguars. He would have a terrific case.

What happened is, he had severe cartilege damage and a partial ligament tear in his knee. The jaguars staff said "You're so important, don't get surgery and go on IR, what we'll do is just play you 15 plays per game for this season with no practice during the week and you can fix it afterwards". He agreed for some reason, allegedly on the advice of the team doctor.

Well the guy could barely bend his knee, he literally cried after every game because of the pain, it was awful to watch him try to run around out there. After about 6-7 games it became apparent he couldn't even play 10 plays a week with no practice, they put him on IR and he elected to consult other physicians to get surgery outside of the team.

Now of course they're cutting him because he's completely damaged goods. The way he was treated was criminal and utter proof of what a ****** Tom Coughlin is. This kid will probably never be right again because he did additional scarring and damage to his knee while trying to play. It's a sad commentary on the ethics of the Jaguars team medical staff.

The Cardinals players should be thankful they have someone like Dr Russell Chick who doesn't practice this sort of "win at all costs" medicine and try to force the players on the field with a shot of painkillers and then discarding them when they're done.

Thanks for the comprehensive report Ed. It's hard to believe that in this day and age, crap like this still goes on. Not only is his career ruined, he'll have to live with this injury the rest of his life.

No, Coughlin was disciplined at BC for trying to "tough talk" injured athletes into playing.

I agree with 40yearfan, this is the kind of horror story you here from the 1950s and this kid is going to be lucky if he can walk without a cane by the time he's 40 years old.

Resorting to microfracture and other advanced surgery to try to repair the damage done is only going to make things harder for him in the long run, i'm sure.

Wasn't there an article this past season about some O lineman who was with Jacksonville and he had an open wound on his leg that was all infected and they kept sending him back out there?
