I don’t understand the thinking of having 2 high priced veterans as well as a rookie qb. The rookie won’t get any reps in practice and will be a wasted pick, unless he’s a late round pick. If this is the case, we’re banking on Bradford or McCarron/Glennon being the future. If we were looking for another vet, Barkley/Gabbert/ or someone trying to just stay employed would be better suited 3rd with a rookie and Bradford IMO.

They have to get a backup who is ready to start given Bradford's history. I actually wouldn't mind Stanton; he wins ugly and would be relatively cheap.

At this point neither Glennon or McCarron will be paid starter money. There isn't any more available. Sign McCarron to a 1 year deal with 2 year option at backup money with BIG incentives. If we are to believe the rumors of the deal with Bradford has major injury issues, why can't McCarron's have major incentives if he takes over as starter? Then draft a QB like Falk in the 2nd. Next summer we can ditch Bradford or McCarron depending on future appeal

The question now is, who is going to be Navarre to this tandem, this ultimate Blake and McCown retro-voltron?

I think they've just sent an enormous signal that they don't have any intention of doing that. Where would the reps come from? The reps needed to groom that top QBOF?

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh, do I hate Keim right now.
The rookie competes with Glennon in camp...

If anything, this means they will draft Lamar or Laulette in the 2nd or 3rd.

There is a zero percent chance now cards draft a QB in round one.

There is a 90% chance they will trade up in round 2 to get a QB.

I think they draft BPA now at 15 unless a Top 4 or 5 QB drops or trade back to get some extra picks and grab Falk in the 2nd

...and then what happens after cuts and after camp? It doesn't work, dude.
It does, dude. Other teams sit rookie QBs for an entire season. Heck, our last QB was never even active on game day as a rookie...and he was the #1 overall pick. He sat as the 3rd QB. With the way the pay scale works today, there is no need to rush a rookie, unless you are in full rebuild.

I'd guess that with Bradford, Glennon, and a rookie, Glennon would be 3rd string so that the rookie would get practice reps, unless Bradford were injured before the rookie is ready, in which case Glennon would pass him up and become the starter.

It makes no sense to have the rookie be 3rd string, unless it's a later round rookie with little potential to be a QBOF.

That would just waste a year of contract with little to no development. I'm not saying to start him, but do you want him to even DEVELOP? Not going to happen at 3rd string, in the regular season. I've said why, a bunch of times, so I'm not going to say it again.
