The topic of waiving-and-stretching Bradley Beal has come up a lot.

Gerald Bourguet explains why it can't happen, at least not right now, but he does explore a buyout as an unprecedented option for a player with his large salary.

Thanks for this, I suggested this earlier this week and thought the 15% wouldn't apply but didn't account for Nasir Little's dead money.

Unless he's going to take less money (which I don't think impacts cap hit anyways), buying him out doesn't make sense. I'd rather just sit him and pray that there's a team that wants him that he's willing to waive his NTC for.

Bradley Beal is owed $53,666,270 for the 2025/26 season and has a player option of $57,128,610 for the 2026/27 season.

It's extremely doubtful he would not pick up his player option in 2026/27, but he could be more easily waived and stretched then, bought out or possibly traded as an expiring contract.

ish should pay beal to retire lol - i mean if he really wants to win

Buying out Beal might actually save the Suns some money or help offset it because they pay penalties for being over the second tax apron.

Of course, the Suns might exceed it again in free agency after using the exceptions or making trades this summer.
