Suhmardjguah is available from Cubs...

I hear he wants a stipend for hair conditioner and there is not way we can afford that.

I really dont get why Smardjizzer is viewed as a "get". The only two notable years of his career came as a reliever. 1.35 career whip, 4.34 ERA last year as a starter, requires an extension this year, so we'd basically pay double by having to trade for him then also pay out the nose to keep him.

He would just be another #3/#4 starter in a rotation full of them.

In his Spring Training game vs. the Cubs at Chase Field, Fatty Cahill continued his sloppy pitching.

He gave up 3 runs on 8 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings. That's just under two base runners per inning. 'Not going to win games or protect the bullpen from overuse that way.

Man, I dislike seeing him in the rotation.

As much as I touted Bradley not being brought up be fore super 2, with this start I think it put Towers' and gibson's jobs on the line. That could push Bradley up earlier. They will do whatever necessary to save their jobs.

Totally agree and I am 100% against it. It's pretty much the worst thing we could do to Bradley right now. Hey kid were bringing you up (before you're ready)and all we ask of you is that you save the season, and Kirk Gibsons job, no pressure!

No way should they bring him up now. This season is already a disaster. (I know, its REALLY early.) But there's no need to panic and lose a year of control. It would only be a small handful of starts anyway.

We will probably call him up, he will struggle with command issues, and then KT will deal him for 50 cents on the dollar since that is his MO when it comes to handling prospects.

Hope we don't call him up early to attempt to 'save the season', one starter isn't going to make a difference when the rest of the rotation is utter trash. Can't believe how excited I was for the Dbacks rotation of the future and now we've got a bunch of bums, two young arms coming off TJ surgeries, the desert's last hope in Archie Bradley, and a depleted farm system.

You can thank KT for this. Its sad because it will take at least 3 years to rebuild our farm system. What a terrible hire by Derrick Hall.

Travel back in time to 2011 or 2012 (a time of excitement and optimism for this franchise) and tell yourself that in 2-3 years KT will have traded Parker for nothing, Bauer for nothing, Kennedy for nothing, and Skaggs for a decent power hitter who cant catch a routine flyball. Think you would believe it?

And nearly doubled the teams payroll in the process.

All those prospects, nearly 50 million in added payroll... and its turned a young team that won 94 games and the West into this mess.

With all of the cash and prospects Towers had to work with, not to mention Goldschmidt developing into an MVP caliber player, to have ended up creating this disaster, it takes a special brand of incompetence.

When you read it like that you have to wonder why he still has a job. I mean, that's some Lance Blanks level **** right there.

Correct except Bauer.

At this point, we won that trade.

At this point, we have won the Skaggs trade as well.

Of course - way to early to judge that trade.

Forgive me, but what have we won? A slick fielding short stop that can't hit? They call that a bench player. Wash, at best.

Maybe if you forget Eaton, but I'll take a 22 year old Skaggs (who just threw 8 innings with no earned runs) and his cost control, along with Eaton, and his production and cost control over Trumbo who can really only do one thing and is a liability in every other facet of the game.

Towers is a disaster, and the sooner he goes the better.

Skaggs's start was better than any we've seen from our staff and he looked phenomenal.

Its great that Trumbo is off to a good start at the dish, but his fielding is even worse than anticipated and this team needs a legit starting pitcher waaaaaay more than they need hitting. IMO this trade is, at best, a wash at the moment and projects to be a serious mistake.

And that ignores Adam Eaton, who is playing very well, hitting .290 in lead off for the Sox, while our leadoff hitters are hitting like .160 combined.

As for Bauer... we traded a top 10 prospect in baseball and got a guy who was a top 10 prospect... in the Reds organization. When comparing value for value in that trade at the time we got murdered. As for how the trade looks now, Bauer still has not gotten his head on straight and our short stop that we so desperately "needed" according to KT is not even on the roster and has been replaced by a dude that was already in the system.

Bauer was a premium prospect at the time he was traded... and we got nothing for him. Hard to call that a "win".

What have we lost without Bauer? If it is a wash, then don't use it as a data point.

Are you forgetting Trumbo's 5 HR and 13 RBI's, and OPS over 1.000?

As for Eaton - we have other players under "cost-control" that could put up the same lack of production he does.

Too early to tell.

I didn't - you listed the Bauer trade as a win, I called it a wash.

Of course not...his offense (in spite of some double plays) has been great. That said, I don't anticipate he'll continue to put up those gaudy numbers, and his defense has been poor.

Further, he'll cost significantly more than Skaggs/Eaton combined in the short term, and doesn't help with our biggest problem by far - atrocious starting pitching.

Ha, maybe you should check his numbers. He was great in Spring Training, and has carried it over into the regular season. We could use a couple more Adam Eatons.

Too early to tell.

True, but foresight is an important skill for a GM, and Towers won't be around to see the fruits of the trades anyway.

Do we have other guys that can put up the same "lack" of production as Eaton? So far he is seriously outplaying our current platoon of leadoff hitters. The guy was a monster as a leadoff hitter in the minors, it was "too early" for the Dbacks to write him off because of one mediocre half season as a rookie coming off an injury.

As for Bauer. Yesterday he went 6 innings, gave up 1 one, allowed 4 hits and struck out 8 for Cleveland... in a big league game. Its too soon to say if he will keep it up, but I do know one thing... that was a better outing than we have seen from our trash heap of a rotation. Meanwhile Didi is in AAA.

Totally agree with all of this. I have always stated that we gave up WAY to early on Eaton for the above reasons.

You're not wrong good sir, but did you hear the scouting report on Bauers outing today? You may not be right for much longer. :( I'm not sure how we "won" that trade when Didi is in AAA and KT is actively seeking to trade him too. Ironically enough, for pitching.

And It's too early to tell on Trumbo. I'm excited about his hot start but watching him completely lose that routine fly ball yesterday did not give me much hope for any other facet of his game. I coulda caught that ball. He's going to have to hit, ALOT, to make the trade truly worth it and Skaggs is going to have to be very average.

Eaton has hit safely in 9 of his last 10 games, has scored 12 times in 11 games so far.

It kills me that they went with Pollack over Eaton... because Eaton was flashy or some nonsense. Eaton absolutely killed it at every level in the minors, he looked very good in 2012 in his first stint up. To give up on him based on a brief struggle as he was also returning from injury... unconscionable.

I still think its very likely that Eaton ends up with a higher OPS than Trumbo, and given Trumbo's horrible defensive returns it will be all the more painful.

That is Towers for you. I guess he was a cancer in the clubhouse.

Eaton homered today. He is now batting .354 with 9 RBIs in 48 ABs, but only 1 SB. Spark plug gone.
