Jimmy isn't Cam, and our defense is 5x more talented than 2011 Week 1's defense.

Fair point. But that ham & egger 3rd stringer at Pitt last year also slung it around like Sammy Baugh, against our much-better-than-'11 defense, and beat the Cards in a game they desperately wanted to win for BA. Then he looked awful a week later. My point is simply to be wary, Jimmy G *could* catch them with their pants down, if they show up overconfident.

I see a lot of "He could take it to the supreme court" non-sense. The SC only takes up matters that involve the constitution. I think there has been enough precedent set on unions and arbitration for the SC to not even entertain the idea of hearing it. If it does go to the SC, I wonder how they would vote? You'd think that right leaning judges would tend to be on the side of management, but left leaning judges might side with the employee and say that the arbitrator overstepped their power. That's just my guess though.

This peaked my interest, so I went back and looked. It was Brady at QB when NE played us at Sun Devil Stadium back in 2004. I know I was there and just didn't remember Brady being the QB.

I was at that game. The B-Train had a sack and forced a fumble of Brady and they honored Pat Tillman at halftime.

I don't care who plays QB fro the Pats as long as we win the game (and cover the spread!)

NFW the Supreme Court agrees to hear the case.

Wait.. After witnessing what just happened (well, didn't happen) with Billary, nothing would surprise me.

I remember Cam Newton's first game in 2011, in our house on opening day. Lit up the Cards D for 400+ yards. Somehow the Cards survived that game, but man, he was en fuego that day. Don't want to see a repeat of that performance with Jimmy G.
Remember who our QB was that day?

Kevin Kolb was our QB and we tried to give the game away with the last minute fumble. They missed a final second FG for us to win.

I remember the refs trying to give that game away on at least a couple BS roughing call, I believe. I know at least one interception was called back because of some ticky tack roughing the passer call. Cam was already getting the veteran (i.e. Tom Brady) treatment since his first game. I remember the momentum of that game swinging drastically after several of these bad calls. That's probably one of the reason I still don't really like the guy to this day.
Conspiracy theorists unite but it seemed like they were hell bent on Cam making a big splash in his first game. Even though we won, all the media talk that night was on Cam and how good he was.

His statement from his facebook page is as follows:

"I'm very grateful for the overwhelming support I've received from Mr. Kraft, the Kraft family, coach Belichick, my coaches and teammates, the NFLPA, my agents, my loving family and most of all, our fans. It has been a challenging 18 months and I have made the difficult decision to no longer proceed with the legal process. I'm going to work hard to be the best player I can be for the New England Patriots and I look forward to having the opportunity to return to the field this fall."

Good news. I would have loved to beat the Patriots with Brady playing but a win is a win is a win. I was also tired of hearing about deflate gate and think he got what he deserved.

MJ just said that he has authorized the NFLPA to appeal to the Supreme Court but he intends to serve the suspension.

From PFT: Here’s the official statement from the NFL Players Association: “After careful consideration and discussion with Tom Brady, the NFLPA will not be seeking a stay of the four game suspension with the 2nd Circuit. This decision was made in the interest of certainty and planning for Tom prior to the New England Patriots season. We will continue to review all of our options and we reserve our rights to petition for [appeal] to the Supreme Court.”

Hopefully, since we can game plan for Garapolololo, the usual back-up malaise will not hit us this time.

The kid is accurate and there is little game film on him, game plan for what... and remember Belichick is his coach and our defensive coordinator is still wet behind the ears, this will be a close one :)

damn... while I will be happy to get a W, I was super geeked up to see how we matched up with one of the greatest dynasties of all time in Week 1.

Good lord the Jynx monster is STRONG in this thread!

Remember when we lost to Landry Jones and Nick Foles? :(

I'm going to be 10x more nervous for the opener than I would be if Brady were playing, because now....:stick::stick::stick:

I'm pretty confident in my nuggets as well and they have zero concerns about a Jynx factor. We are talking about a BA All or Nothing Cards team, they can't be jinxed.

Just in case. ;)

Campbell on CBS Sports Radio:

"Licking my chops. You get a rookie quarterback, pretty much. You know it's always exciting when you get a guy like that for his first game because he's going to be nervous. He's probably going to be sitting there holding the ball a little longer or trying to get rid of it quick, throwing bad balls. As a vet, we definitely pride ourselves on welcoming rookies the right way."

Any fool who says they prefer Brady on the field when we kick it off in week 1 is either drunk or out of their mind :doi:

We do tend to make a backup look HOF so it should be the same game.
