I dont see us taking a RB that high with Edge here, but I wouldnt cry if we did take him.

Thats why I like our spot at 5, I will be happy with just about anyone we take there.

I have said from the beginning -- if Peterson is there (and you dont have the Texans offering a kings ransom to trade up), the Cards have to take him.

the draft isnt just a this season exercise -- its for the next five to eight seasons.

Yup, do you take someone with Dickerson like talent that can change the game in a heartbeat, or a solid LT? Can't lose IMO. I like the game breaker myself. But wouldn't cry if they went other way either. One piece at a time.

I think guys like Pittman, Booker are viable alternatives too. Mitch mentioned Russell from Minn. who should be there in the 3rd or 4th.

You got to look at what the drop off is for alternatives. Staley looks slow. Ugoh has alot of questions. RB however, if you have the line , you have a better back. No line,....? And you have to factor in the pass protection equation.

When all is said and done...Quinn will go #2 to the Lions. The Lions addressed their needs in free agency and, the reality is, they know they made a huge mistake last year by not taking Leinart or Cutler...not to say they don't love Ernie Sims, but how many times does a team have a chance to draft a franchise QB?

Quinn would come into the Lions' organization at the right time...Kitna is aging and would have to yield the reins to Quinn when Quinn is ready, the way Kitna had to so with Carson Palmer...

When you think about it, Kitna (yielding to Palmer and Quinn) and Kurt Warner (yielding to Manning and Leinart) have traveled similar paths in recent years.

It seems like the Lions have the opportunity every other year. But your point is well-taken. It would behoove them to think strategically and acquire their QBOTF now while they have QB guru extraordinaire Mike Martz to teach him the ropes.
