Damn, but I'm glad we cut Clancy and gave a big f-all to the possibility of injuries and depth concerns. Oh wait...

When Clancy was signed he was great. A terrific upgrade over Russell Davis. Now K Clancy's a bum and Branch is a huge upgrade over Kendrick.

But we still have Watson so Bailey will only be the rotation guy. I think Gabe will do fine.

I'll play DT...for league minimum to boot!

If anyone in the Cards front office reads this, PM me for my cell number.

Bailey's a 6-year veteran who played 4 seasons in Pittsburgh's 3-4. It's not like we are depending on a UDFA to back up Watson and Branch.

I could think of about 22 other guys that if hurt would concern me much more than our back-up DT.

It's not like Branch was playing lights out in preseason. I haven't changed my expectations for Monday at all. I still expect the defense to be pretty lousy. Now, the only thing that can happen for me is a pleasant surprise. Disappointment is out of the equation.

Trey, why dwell in the past? What has that ever accomplished?

Totally agree. Watson, if anyone was paying attention, had an outstanding summer for the team. Bailey is no slouch either and knows a 3/4 if they should line up that way....this is far from the end of the world as we know it.

By the way...where are you watching the game? Home?? I will crack open a few Goose Island Summertime brewski's unwrap some fresh Johnnies Beef (Elmwood Park is the closest Johnnies to you) with sweet peppers and maybe pick up a few of his homemade tamales from Johnnies too!!

As a 300 lb DE that is.

But I am going to figure that when Watson comes out for a breather they will move to more of a 4-3 D to offset the missing beef. Moving Dockett inside with Cooper or Bailey, Smith and Berry on the outside.

Not dwelling in the past. I'd "moved on" as it were, until last night when I saw him starting for NO and found out today that Branch will be unavailable on Monday.

Clancy should still be on this team, but going into the wherefores and the whys would truly be dwelling in the past...

This will be Bailey's 7th year in the NFL and he spent 4 of his 6 years with Pittsburg. While he might not be the best at his position, he certainly shouldn't make a whole lot of mistakes and on top of that, he'll only be in there for 25% of the snaps or less.

Sorry, but I just don't get the concern here.

Oh, you don't get the concern that he was a reserve DEFENSIVE END, who didn't play much at that, who is now our TOP reserve NT? You know, a position that needs spelled around, as you say, 25% of the snaps? Well, I am concerned, and I sure in the heck don't get the lack of concern.

Hey, we're in the middle of an 8.5 earthquake and the house is falling down around us. I bet some of you chuckleheads would still be unconcerned ;)

Are you worried he isn't big enough to play DT?

Well, he weighs 309 pounds which is 20 pounds more than Ross Kolodziej (289) who would normally be our backup DT and they are both 6' 3" tall.

I swear, you guys think we should not only have probowlers at every position, we should also have probowlers to back them up and a probowler or two sitting in the wings just in case the back up gets injured also.

Actually Bailey is listed as the #3 Littlebittyguywhonlyweighs300lbs Tackle behind Dockett and Cooper on the Cards depth chart. Only Watson and Branch are listed at the Greatbighugeguy Tackle position.
