Hello everyone,

Let me introduce myself. My name is Brad, and I am pleased to announce the opening of a new Suns community. ThePhxSuns.com is currently in the developement stage. I'm bringing it to your attention because I would love to get some dedicated Suns Fan's ideas and comments on the current site.

So far, the front page, and message boards have been adapted to the layout, and seam perfectly. More work is currently being done. I would love any comments on what's on the site so far, and what you'd like to see added. All ideas will be accounted for, and taken into consideration.

I really appreciate everyone that views this topic, it really means a lot to me.

Thanks in advance everyone.

Site looks ok, I guess. Everything is kinda small.

If it walks like spam...and it talks like spam...then it must be spam, right?

I hate colored background. It is hard to read print. Font is too small. Good luck.

Thanks everyone for all comments. I really don't want to spam up these forums, but I thought it'd be the best place to get a few comments on the site. If you feel it's violating anything, I'll gladly take it off. I apoligize for that.

Anyway.. Yeah, I can see what you mean about the smallness. What exactly is too small? The text in the images, or on page?

Thanks everyone that viewed this page. I really appreciate it.

Thanks for the comments, arthurracoon.

I changed the text size for the entire page. How does it currently look? Is that any better?

Thanks, once again, for all the comments. There greatly appreciated.

I'm sure most people visit other sites, but generally have a home site. ASFN is the best Suns sites because it has a very large number of top quality posters who actually do their homework. Visitors from other teams frequently commend us for the qualtiy of the material they find here.

There are a few sites (that will be left nameless) that seem to be dominated by trolls and kids. ASFN has a strong enough base that the trolls don't cause a major problem, but I've seen some boards all but cleared of quality posters after a major troll attack. It's something you really have to watch out for.

In any case, good luck.

What happened to purplepalace.us?

I never understood why some people here got their panties all in a bunch over that site. There's no reason that they shouldn't have been able to coexist, and that would have been better for everyone, but petty insecurity from some of this board's administrators killed it.

Insecurity killed it?

Here's what it says when you visit that (suspended) site: Please contact the billing/support department as soon as possible.

Well, right. Obviously the site failed due to a lack of traffic, so the owners stopped paying for it. What I can't understand is why this makes you so smug and happy. Maybe it's just because you're a Lakers fan, but I suspect the real reasons run deeper. In any case, it's a shame that not everyone realizes that additional strong sites are good for the entire sports fan community.

It was simply an experiment, albeit a failed one, but an experiment nonetheless. Those people that did register for the site seemed to understand that it's purpose was not to undermine this site. Unfortunately, several of the administrators of this site took it as a personal attack that the new site even existed and some childish posters also took it personally. That's their prerogative, but I certainly don't lose any sleep over a couple immature people who couldn't deal with what wasn't even an issue to begin with.

Let's please not turn this thread into another purple Palace argument. I don't care who started it. Let's just drop it. Thanks.

Between this site, phxsuns.net, ESPN and AZCentral, I'm not sure there's enough of a niche for any more Suns sites.

ESPN: channels posters to its message board via sheer volume
AZCentral: does the same, albeit with more a local taste
phxsuns.net: limited number of posters with good knowledge, a strong focus on social interaction
ASFN: a larger number of posts, more focused on the Suns with less of the risque, some posters with good knowledge

I applaud your efforts to make a new site, but I'm not sure how you could differentiate yourself from existing sites with a large membership. If you want your site to work, you might want to think of a target audience different from the four mentioned above.

I've run message boards in the past, so I know how much work goes into a site like yours. Good luck!

What software are you using? I help run a very small, private baseball board using phpbb2 and it's a nightmare; we're looking at switching to a commercial software that actually has some tech support.

It still seems pretty small and I also don't like white-on-dark text.

Thanks virtual9, I'll try my best to attempt to target a certain type. I'm not really sure how, but I'll put some though into it. Thanks for the post.

We're currently using XMB Forum, the latest version, it works out great if you know how to run it fairly well. I'm not sure if tech support comes with, since it's free, but you could look into it. Again, thanks for the post.

Take care everyone. I really do hope the site works out. I guess I'll just stick with it for now..
