On July 24, 2008, Albert signed a five-year contract with the Chiefs.[5] It was announced by the Chiefs that he would be moved to the tackle position, though he played guard at Virginia. Despite missing all four preseason games with a foot injury suffered at training camp, Albert still managed to start 15 games at left tackle (only missing Week 5 at Carolina due to an elbow injury). He allowed just 4.5 sacks in 2008, and the only penalty called against him all season was a false start.[citation needed]
With high expectations, 2009 was a disappointing struggle for Albert. He committed 10 penalties and his 9 sacks allowed were the fifth most in the league. He missed Week 6 and 7 with an ankle injury but started the other 14 games. Despite his struggles, Albert finished the season a little stronger allowing no sacks in the final three games. Head coach Todd Haley later called his 2009 performance an "adjustment period" after losing nearly 40 pounds the last offseason in his request.
Albert started 15 games in 2010 and has established himself as the Chiefs left tackle. He started 16 games in the 2011 season at left tackle, occasionally covering left guard due to the recent acquisition of Jared Gaither from the Baltimore Ravens.
Albert received the Chiefs franchise tag March 5, 2013.

Not to mention the dude has never sniffed a pro bowl?? PASS!

Kent Somers spoke about this on Twitter, and said that the cost of Albert's contract may be too much for the Cardinals to take on. That absolutely makes sense, but I would still be willing to open the checkbook for this guy. Albert and Warmack would make this team (dare I say it) instantly competitive.

Love it

overpay him.

It enables us to go BPA in the draft and get difference makers. No scrub #3 LTs like Lane Johnson

Cap cost anyone? Anyone? (Buhler)?

We can't really afford that can we?

He'll probably eat up all our remaining cap space this year, but you gotta remember all those 1 year contracts we just signed this off season.

Those get wiped out after this year and will open a huge chunk of change.

So nothing to worry about long term. Keim honestly did a good job with the future financials.

and again, LT is position you must spend $$$ on if you want a good FB team.

I've suspected Arians has had his eye on Albert since it was revealed a 2nd rounder would get the deal done. And I do think TA is in his sights. For that reason Arians and Co. have done a masterful job of lulling others (see: SF and St. Louie) into thinking they are going O-line or perhaps D-line. Misdirection at its finest. That is why Arians will wait until TA is in his clutches before making the trade fit Albert.

Crazy? Like a fox! :D

Competitive, no. Respectable, yes. IMHO of course.

whats the difference? if you respectable you must be playing competative football.

Because we have been downright miserable, pathetic for the past 15 seasons. Respectable is above that, competitive above that, and elite above that.

My made up 4 tier system.... :D

You guys are forgetting something. If we are going to give our 2nd rounder away, why not simply package our 2nd round pick with our 1st and move up to take Fisher or Joeckel. Save that 8 million per year to get a pro-bowl player or two in FA next year.

Just another way to look at it. I personally don't want us to lose our 2nd round pick, not this year. IF we could give them next year's 2nd for him, I wouldn't mind so much.

I am looking forward to us getting 3 starters in the draft this year: pass rusher, OG/OT, and C, plus a decent S and/or CB. I just love the guys that we will be able to pick from in round 2-4 this year, more than any year I can remember.

I hope ARZ trades for him now and then hope that either SD or MIA after losing out on the Albert sweepstakes trade up with us to take Johnson and hand over a 2nd in the process. Have to strike now for Albert because it has already been rumored MIA is currently considering giving up their 2nd for him.

I'd be pretty stoked if we did this deal and then got a dynamic pass-rusher at 7. We'd be able to nail our two biggest needs left with those first two picks. everything after that would be gravy IMO.

or hell... even go Warmack with that 7th pick and hopefully, completely stabilize the offensive line for years to come.

Taking Albert would move someone to G, whether it be Levi or Massie, effectively also taking care of the Snyder problem.

Then we really could use #7 on the top pass rusher (and top defensive player in the draft) Jarvis Jones.
