The defenses under Bowles were legitimate difference makers. I don't care what the stats say, the D's under Bettcher were sub-par. Once Bowles left, it just seemed as if the development or utilization of the personnel fell off. I never felt as if the defense could make that big stop, when needed.

Totally agree with you. Bowles made adjustments at half time and the defense played better the 2nd half. IMO adjustments at half time never seem to happen under Bettcher.

You can go with your feelings, I'll trust the stats but note that they aren't the whole story. There were few games that we weren't in a position to win in the 4rh quarter and can't recall many that we lost on a last possession.

Look, the guy who coached him at LSU has more than enough experience to have a feel for what he can be. It's not his fault that he was drafted early or that regardless of coaching he would need a while to adjust. One thing is certain and that is he has better instincts than Bethel. Wilks is a legit cornerback guru and if he thinks he can make him productive, I will give him some space to work his magic... but yes, I want a vet now to buffer the 'what if' while still supporting the guy because he's a Cardinal :newcards:
Williams played for Texas A&M. Are you saying the coach at LSU was his coach at A&M?
We all knew Williams was as raw as they get. His athletic ability was why he was drafted so high along with his coaches praise. If Wilks is half the DB coach that we all hope he is he might be able to mold Williams into a good CB. I think he gets at least this year to show if he's ready to play.

When he said LSU, he meant A&M. John Chavis was the coach, most well-known for being the LSU DC prior to his stint with A&M where he coached Brandon Williams.

He is with Arkansas currently but that's neither here nor there.
