Ridiculous. If you fail a test in October - you should no longer be playing. Also - tainted MVP. He can fight it all he wants, but no one tests positive, fights it, and wins.

If he's guilty nobody should respect anything he says again. Just the way he sat on that podium accepting the MVP going on and on about "hard work" and "playing the game the RIGHT WAY" and all his other garbage, knowing full well that he had already tested positive. Lame, so what I'm saying is not only is he a pumkin eater,,, but his pants are also on fire!

per ESPN:

To affirm the results and strengthen its case, MLB asked the World Anti-Doping Agency lab in Montreal, which conducts its testing, to perform a secondary test to determine whether the testosterone spike resulted from natural variations within Braun's body or from an artificial source. The test indicated the testosterone was exogenous, meaning it came from outside his body.

Guilty!

What happened to the baseball purist?

"The Baseball Writers Association of America, who votes on the award, will not strip Braun of his MVP if he gets suspended."

The Baseball Writers Association of America, who votes on the award, will not strip Braun of his MVP if he gets suspended. "What's the point of doing that?" said the BWAA. "Ryan is simply continuing the tradition of MVP winners over the past 20 years who were all PED users."

FTFY;)

Braun is a cheater and that cheating directly impacted my D-Backs. He is a chump, a fraud, and deserves all the bile that gets spewed his way. I wish MLB had the guts to suspend him immediately, but they were more concerned with a great playoff push/race, of which he was a huge part.

Makes me sick. At the very least, they should strip him of the MVP. Won't happen though.

At least Prince will bolt and Braun will be out for the first 50 games. The Brewers will be eliminated from the playoffs before he ever sees the field.

WTF?! Dude is already being ridiculed for possible PEDs use; now this becomes public? True or not, public perception is reality.

Trying to take this as serious as possible, isn't he obligated to submit a list of medications he's taking to the MLB offices for clearance? I know players who take Adderal are mandated to do so.

If he doesn't get vindicated, he faces a 50 game ban on top of humiliation from having herpes.

What a bunch of crap.

Tom Haudricourt initially reported that Braun's appeal was based on disputing the testing procedures, not his positive test. It looks like we've got more detail, and, oh man:

According to one of the sources, the collector, after getting Braun's sample, was supposed to take the sample to FedEx/Kinkos for shipping but thought it was closed because it was late on a Saturday. As has occurred in some other instances, the collector took the sample home and kept it refrigerated. Policy states that the sample is supposed to get to FedEx as soon as possible.

Or if he wasn't one of Uncle Bud's boys

Oh, I think Bud is mad today. He wanted to show his strict drug testing worked. Instead MLB got worked on a technicality. He's embarrassed by this after working so hard to get a tough drug testing standard in place. It sucks and I hope they can close the loophole to make sure it isn't continually exploited.

I heard on ESPN that a second test was done and it too showed elevated levels of an outside testosterone. I bet MLB backed down to avoid a lawsuit in regards to the way the first test was conducted.

It sounds to me as if their testing procedure is pretty poor. In fact, the whole thing seems a little suspicious to me, but I'll wait to hear more details.

Hopefully next time Braun tests positive, the suspension can be a full season.

Regardless, Braun is going to get the Palmero treatment at every away game. He will be booed mercilessly. He has no one's sympathy outside of Wisconsin.
