Guy in the DD jersey is a good Samaritan.

I agree. The guy in the light blue shirt was getting choked and obviously couldn't breathe. The guy in the 9-0 jersey wasn't in a position to do anything else and he did the one thing he could to stop it. SAFE guy is lucky 9-0 guy was big enough to reach over the railing. He wasn't getting any oxygen at that point.

Looks like 9-0 jersey also tried to help the guy in the light blue shirt when he went down but was pulled away.

We have as a society a lot of aggression built up inside us. That is why we have "violent" sporting events and the like. We have to have some form of release of that or it will spill over into the streets of our towns. It is better that these people who are on the verge of exploding have a place like a football game to go to and let it out rather than on you or me at a traffic light or somewhere else in our neighborhood.

Not saying it is ideal or right, but it is one alternative which we have created in our society. I stopped going to all sporting events many years ago due to the cursing all around us, the fighting and brawls of which I have jumped in several times to save some poor guy from a beating. I once even saved a security guard who was getting pummelled by 2 black gang members while his crew was brawling with the whole security force at a Padres game.

Sporting events, sadly, has been no place for a nice clean family outing for years IMO. So sad too. Yet I would rather just admit to letting the thugs have the stadiums to vent than our public streets at random.

I am too old and broken down to fight anymore, but am sure I would jump in at a game when seeing some innocent fan get beat up by a thug, especially one wearing the visitors jersey.

I say let them pay $100 bucks to go vent in the stadiums and arenas, and leave the street I live on a little more safe and peaceful. I am sure a lot of these people I call thugs are not hardened criminals, but rather just drunk everyday working people who need an outlet from their nagging bosses, spouses, and crazed kids. Give them one day a week when they can put on their team's jersey and go "kick some arse" rooting for their team and occassionally getting it on with the opposing team's fans. They can then return to their "normal" mundane life the other 6 days of the week.

Before people jump all over Dockett for this tweet, watch the video and you will see what he's talking about. It's about the 40second mark.

The guy in the Dockett jersey is trying to break up the fight, and the guy he hits has his hand around the SAFE guys neck and is Clearly choking him. He tries to pull him off the guy, he wont let go, so he decks him. Good for him, cuz I'm sure that was scary for the SAFE guy. I dont usually advocate fighting or violence but some people just need to be punched in the face.

This!!!

The sad thing is, that poor guy getting choked isn't even security. He's just an usher getting paid $8.00 an hour. Shouldn't have even gotten involved but it's kinda human nature I guess.

I can't talk on it too much but the guy without a shirt with the helmet on is one of my heroes. He's hilarious. We had him at the ejection point and he absolutely did not care what was going on down there. He literally stood there and was hyper-focused on the game, ignoring all the LEO's and security around him. He watched the rest of the game on the big screen cheering his ass off, oblivious to everything else. Just a diehard fan. He was awesome.

A lot of good points there, just wanted to add in my 2 cents.

I had season tickets for years, went with my Dad who is in his 60's. I never got in a fight, never close really. I'm not a fighter. I dont turn around and talk smack to opposing fans after every first down, that sort of thing.

But going to the games for 10 years including a lot of SDS games, I saw a LOT of fights. I can tell you that 90% of the time they were started by drunk guys in their 20's who come to the game purely to act like *******s and drunk guys in their40's who get pissed off at them and then it's a Animal Planet documentary waiting to happen...

You see the 20's at the game going up and down, up and down the stairs. You think; Why even come to the game? You haven't seen any of it you spend all your time going to get more beer and going to the bathroom? Then they spend what little time they are in their seats facing away from the field, arms raised and antagonizing other fans.

That's where 40 year old drunk guy comes into the picture. See 40 year old drunk guy has a lot of angst like you talked about, plus he got drunk in the parking lot because he's too smart to pay $9 for beer, but now his buzz is wearing off, this angers the primitive beast.... He's got the pressure of life on his shoulders and he paid hard earned money to come to the game and have a few beers, now he's got 20year old drunk guy screaming in his face all game, trying to antagonize him. He's been listening to 20's crap all game and he's not going to put up with it anymore. Who does this 20 think he is?

Then the 20 starts thinking; 'haha I'm getting under that 40's skin, this is fun! I'm gonna go even harder, cuz the beer is making me brave and fighting is fun!'

These two creatures can only exist in the same space for so long before there is a fight.

I've watched the video a couple of times, and here are my thoughts:

1. I still can't figure out if some of the people are Niners fans or Cards fans.

2. The dude who passes through with the beer around 1:35 mark is definitely my hero.

3. I'd bet on Jersey + Dems over those Niners skanks any day!!!

They were talking about this on the radio just now. According to a guy who sits in that section:

1. A woman threw a beer on another woman, starting an altercation.

2. A MAN then punches a woman, in the face, who was not one of the two fighting.

3. At that point, all hell broke loose.

4. Took four or five minutes for any security to arrive.

when this becomes a regular occurrence, the power that be usually end up restricting the booze sales a little and jacking the price of tickets up to price out the scumbags.

It is why I will not take my kid to a professional football game. Too many drunk idiots.

I've got seats in the family section and bring my kids to every game. You are not allowed to drink beer in these sections and any roudy fans are quickly removed. If you want to take your kid then I would recommend finding a seat in one of these sections.

Lol. I value my job, so I wouldn't be much help in a fight. I do admit though that if someone chucked a beer on me, it would be difficult for me to not get my Jersey up.

:D

Not sure Jersey would need the help, but I'd have inserted my thumbs into the eyeballs of the idiot was choking the SAFE guy.

Lol. Thanks, I think. :)

There better be a nice investigation and some charges brought against all those involved. Uncalled for.

You know, it's all perspective. I took a friend of mine from the UK to a game a few years back and he marveled at how safe NFL games are compared to professional soccer games in the UK. In fact, he specifically said he could never take his kids to a soccer game in England because they were so dangerous, but he would love to take this kids to football games here.

(yes, he's English and never once called the game "soccer". I just Americanized my post.)

Is it really a regular occurrence though? I haven't seen a fight in the stands in forever. And I sit on the "visitors's" side.

And the most fights I ever saw were when I sat close to the "family" section in the upper level. Cheap seats brought out some real winners, despite the no alcohol rule there.

My wife and I used to attend a lot more games but our attendance has steadily declined for this very reason.

Plus, average ticket prices are $100+. It's better to be at my own house watching it on my HD 50 inch TV, stand up when I want, say what I want, not be around belligerent idiots, fast forward commercials, not wait in lines anywhere and don't have to sit in traffic to and from the game!

But it is always fun to go to a game every once in awhile (but with good tickets).

This was videoed as most things are nowadays, so no big fight will never fly under the radar.

However, UofP had aout 1/10th of the fights that used to go down at SDS. The only time I have ever felt unsafe at an athletic event was when the Steelers played the Cardinals at SDS during Plummer's rookie season. There were two fights in my section and in the third quarter, no joke, I saw three big fights going on at the same time.

Last year at Seattle game, there was a fight that broke out right in front of us. Drunks in that one. On the San Francisco game on Monday night a few years ago, there was a fight a few rows in front of us then the next quarter there was a fight a few rows behind us. This year on Monday night, there wasn't a fight but there was one that almost happened. Never will take my kids to a cards game.

Pretty sad really. It takes the fun out of the game.

Funny you mention that.

When we went to the Gmen/Cards game 2 weeks ago I tried to buy a beer after a potty break & food run at halftime. To my surprise I was unable because MetLife Stadium cuts of beer sales when the 3rd qtr resumes. Hmmmm maybe a possible answer to some of the problem at other nfl games.

Doesn't UoP cut it off after the 3rd quarter? Just get rid of beer sales all together like they do for college games. Will make going to the stadium for a lot of families that avoid it easy to make that decision to go. Including me.

Yes, they do. But there is still plenty of time for people to be highly inebriated before sales are cut off.

I think they need at least one cop for every two sections. The last thing anyone needs is someone getting a serious brain injury at a game.

BTW, I sat in an alcohol free section at SDS. Yes, it was a little better but it was no Nirvana either. The best thing about it was getting enemy fans in trouble when they tried to take their beer into our section. That was hilarious at times.

I went to Broncos/Raiders Monday night game several years ago in the old Mile High stadium.… field level-end zone tix, rough crowd down there. Plus there was a NIN concert at McNichols arena next door. All the freaks were out. Fights everywhere. Downright scary.

At UOP I've seen a scuffle or two. Mostly just drunk jerks being who they are.

Former season ticket holder, after witnessing fights in both the parking lots/stands every game, that was enough for me. Sadly the worst and the dullest often show up at these games, ruining the experience for people who can behave like adults.

And the best part of watching on TV is you can use your bathroom!
