Doesn't UoP cut it off after the 3rd quarter? Just get rid of beer sales all together like they do for college games. Will make going to the stadium for a lot of families that avoid it easy to make that decision to go. Including me.

Maybe we can legalize marijuana and sell that instead. Seems like that would calm things down a lot.

:thumbs up:

And the best part of watching on TV is you can use your bathroom!

Well, it is never as fun as being at the game and being a part of if by the noise. you make. There was a family in front of use yesterday that had brought two girls, maybe about 10, to the game. I taught them how to get loud by screaming and slapping the seat right in fun of you. What a blast! Those girls yelled their hearts out the rest of the game, whenever SF had the ball. Their mom even thanked me as they left.

That game was so much fun, watching a game on TV is just a pale version of being there live in the stands.

A lot of good points there, just wanted to add in my 2 cents.

I had season tickets for years, went with my Dad who is in his 60's. I never got in a fight, never close really. I'm not a fighter. I dont turn around and talk smack to opposing fans after every first down, that sort of thing.

But going to the games for 10 years including a lot of SDS games, I saw a LOT of fights. I can tell you that 90% of the time they were started by drunk guys in their 20's who come to the game purely to act like *******s and drunk guys in their40's who get pissed off at them and then it's a Animal Planet documentary waiting to happen...

You see the 20's at the game going up and down, up and down the stairs. You think; Why even come to the game? You haven't seen any of it you spend all your time going to get more beer and going to the bathroom? Then they spend what little time they are in their seats facing away from the field, arms raised and antagonizing other fans.

That's where 40 year old drunk guy comes into the picture. See 40 year old drunk guy has a lot of angst like you talked about, plus he got drunk in the parking lot because he's too smart to pay $9 for beer, but now his buzz is wearing off, this angers the primitive beast.... He's got the pressure of life on his shoulders and he paid hard earned money to come to the game and have a few beers, now he's got 20year old drunk guy screaming in his face all game, trying to antagonize him. He's been listening to 20's crap all game and he's not going to put up with it anymore. Who does this 20 think he is?

Then the 20 starts thinking; 'haha I'm getting under that 40's skin, this is fun! I'm gonna go even harder, cuz the beer is making me brave and fighting is fun!'

These two creatures can only exist in the same space for so long before there is a fight.

That's so true! :notworthy:

But it's mostly just 20-30 somethings + the booze and aggression (quadruple that if your losing - esp. at home).

Agree completely. Not ripping those that choose to stay away...there is just no way we are staying away. The TV is for away games, unless you can make some of those too. :D

Yeah the stadium was rocking last night! It was deafning in there during the 4th quarter. Such a fun experience. I've been going to games for 17 years and not once had any problem. Of course I mind my own business and don't get up in anyone's face. If I see a problem near me I report it to SAFE via the text system and they are there fairly quickly.

I bring my kids. They are growing up hardcore cards fans. They never went to SDS though, there's no way I would have let that happen.

There are fights, almost always not near us. F bombs and the like fly, but we have talked about that and how people become idiots. They get it. And they love yelling for the cards.

UOP is not SDS...i reiterate, I'd never have taken kids to that environment. It was wild some of the fights right around us there.

We sit in the endzone, down by the field. It's a relatively chill area given how loud we get down there. Most opposing fans down there are pretty cool, and just talk football. We've only had one person tazed in our immediate area since the stadium opened. :p

With the new "vape pens" that look identical to tobacco pens, folks are already puffing on the doochie, even in the stands. :)

Yeah ddog,I feel exactly the same about taking kids to Cards games. I was always a tad worried at SDS, but it never even crosses my mind that there might be trouble at UofP. I've been there for every single home game atUofP and there has never been a fight close to where I sit. The worst thing I have seen at UofP was the Dallas game on Christmas night and as we were leaving, there was a guy with a broken nose bleeding all over the place close to the south endzone. There were cops there who had a guy handcuffed. Ironically, they were both wearing Cowboys gear.

Plus, average ticket prices are $100+. It's better to be at my own house watching it on my HD 50 inch TV, stand up when I want, say what I want, not be around belligerent idiots, fast forward commercials, not wait in lines anywhere and don't have to sit in traffic to and from the game!

But it is always fun to go to a game every once in awhile (but with good tickets).

Meh, it like the difference between watching someone have sex and actually having sex. To each is own.

Do those qualify as e-cigarettes?

If so, they are on the prohibited items list.

which is BS. Last year leaving a game I had a safe person say "your not even supposed to have those here" so this year I took my cheaper ecig gear just in case and thankfully didnt get messed with.

But, to say hey you people who are trying to quit smoking and going to smoking sections and using a healthier alternative can kick rocks, only real cigarettes are allowed here is a joke.

You can simply say no smoking or vaping outside of designated areas and its fine. Why should ecigarettes be banned and real cigarettes allowed? There is no valid argument for that.

I "might" have been involved in a dance or 2 back at the ol SDS. Us in the north end-zone used to get heavy traffic from the visiting team, as it was right next to the tunnel. But hey, it was all in good fun. Usually security would take the visiting teams fans, and upgrade their tickets to resolve the differences. Now-a-days it's a felony...:nono:

The reason I was given although I can't verify, is that at last year's Superbowl someone was caught with an e-cig that had been converted into a bomb. So now the NFL has prohibited all e-cigs. The same as how the Boston Marathon bombings changed the policy on clear bags only.

Technically if you are found with an e-cig you are supposed to remove it from the stadium and the stadium has a no re-entry policy. That isn't the way most of the security is handling it so far but that's the direction I think it's heading.

Just thought I'd give you a heads up because I heard those things can be expensive.

Before people jump all over Dockett for this tweet, watch the video and you will see what he's talking about. It's about the 40second mark.

The guy in the Dockett jersey is trying to break up the fight, and the guy he hits has his hand around the SAFE guys neck and is Clearly choking him. He tries to pull him off the guy, he wont let go, so he decks him. Good for him, cuz I'm sure that was scary for the SAFE guy. I dont usually advocate fighting or violence but some people just need to be punched in the face.

Has this been resolved yet? Gotta connect these guys!

They were talking about this on the radio just now. According to a guy who sits in that section:

1. A woman threw a beer on another woman, starting an altercation.

2. A MAN then punches a woman, in the face, who was not one of the two fighting.

3. At that point, all hell broke loose.

4. Took four or five minutes for any security to arrive.
According to a comment on PFT from someone who said they were in that section, the woman niners fan threw the beer on the woman cards fan and then all hell broke loose.. for what it's worth.

The guy choking the security guard should be in jail. Honestly, you wish you could put him in a room with about 10 security personnel and no cameras for 15 minutes. But alas, for a society to remain civilized, some people have to show restraint even when others don't.
