The Detroit Lions have been busy this offseason, primarily focusing on putting together a defense that can withstand what knocked them out of the playoffs early last season.
The Lions have made a point of bringing many players back who were around in 2024, but the cornerback room has a healthy mix of new faces and familiar ones. New defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard has plenty of familiarity with the group sticking around, along with passing game coordinator/defensive backs coach Deshea Townsend.
The Lions' secondary had to do a lot of heavy lifting by the end of last season as injuries mounted. The pass rush often allowed opposing quarterbacks to take a small vacation before feeling the need to get rid of the football. This year's unit will hope for additional help up front while simply willing themselves to stay healthy through 17 games.
Carlton Davis III - Signed 3-year, $54 million contract with New England Patriots on March 10, 2025.
Ifeatu Melifonwu - Signed 1-year, $3.01 million contract with Miami Dolphins on March 11, 2025 (primarily a safety in DET)
Kindle Vildor - Signed 1-year, $1.33 million contract with Tampa Bay Buccaneers on March 13, 2025.
Avonte Maddox - Signed an undisclosed contract (details TBD) on March 21, 2025.
Rock Ya-Sin - Signed an undisclosed contract on March 20, 2025.
Terrion Arnold - Under 4-year, $14.34 million rookie contract through 2027.
Khalil Dorsey - Re-signed to undisclosed contract on March 20, 2025.
Amik Robertson - Under 2-year, $9.25 million contract through 2025.
Morice Norris - Signed 1-year, $795,000 contract, added to active roster Jan. 20, 2025.
Ennis Rakestraw - Under 4-year, $6.48 million rookie contract through 2027.
The 2025 NFL Draft comes at the end of April, plus undrafted rookies after the draft.
