Free agency really only helps make small steps. It rarely helps bottom feeders. We were one and even though we offered big money regularly, we were passed over by anyone who might have helped move us from bottom feeder to up and comer. Free agency is best to fill a hole or two. Kind of like how we signed Javale McGee to backup Ayton, that helped address our need for a backup big. It's really for small fixes. Big time free agents rarely switch teams and when they do there's a reason the old team lets them go, see Paul George to Philadelphia for an example.

I very purposefully ruled out the type of guys you are talking about. There's a lot of younger less paid talent in this league. Scouting and building a good roster from that talent is not out of the question. Other teams have done this before. Not every team needs multiple super stars to win, see 2024-2025 Phoenix Suns.

if we magically cleared the books and intelligently spent a smaller budget on a more balanced product we won't be contenders - but with the gauchos - tyty - and some draft picks (via trade) we might be watchable again

The Suns need to hire someone at the top to rework this franchise.

IMO, the GM and coaching positions are flawed.

My hope is that lessons were learned by ownership.

If I were playing GM, I'd trade at least one major contract, get under the second tax apron and then reevaluate.

I do want to keep Devin Booker unless he changes his mind and wants out.

I don’t think he has to change his mind. I believe he wants out but is smart enough to say the rights things until the moment comes.

Okay but even ignoring the Cap rule changes I don't know any team that's done it in circumstances anywhere near as bad as we face when it comes to future picks. New Jersey/Brooklyn went through something similar but they're still struggling 12 years after they first destroyed their future. And they've had a lot of good luck along the way just getting to where they are yet here they are tanking once again.

We will find out soon enough. Unfortunately, we are not privy to behind the scene discussions. I understand Booker does not want to be a part of a Suns rebuild.

Wouldn’t this already be a rebuild? We have assets but I’m not sure there’s any trades that make us better if we make them. The advantage is starting to get a different culture. You’d think for at least KD and book we could get some decent return players to start with more than nothing.

The Suns were a better team prior to the Durant, Beal and Ayton trades. Whether the Suns can put enough talent around Booker to be a playoff team remains to be seen.

If the Suns trade Booker, it may be a long time before they find another star player.

Pictures or it didn't happen.:lol:.
If I had actually done it I'm pretty sure the audio would have been sufficient proof.

Anyway, I gave in and watched the game and actually thought it was fairly entertaining as long as you ignored our 3 point shooting.

 regarding the audio. Eesh. Yeah, at least the Suns gave good effort throughout. Something that was missing the majority of the season. Unfortunately, they waited until it was too late. Here's to hoping next season, whatever we look like, that at the very least, they give good effort for a whole season. I can forgive a lot more when that's the case. But the majority of this season was pathetic.

Not sure if it was clear but I meant the screaming I'd have been doing, especially if I'd applied hot wax to my nostrils.

If Devin is still around next season I can only hope he'll spend most of his time as a shooting guard (like he did yesterday).

It was very clear! Think 40-Year-Old Virgin. Why do you think I didn't want to hear it?! Thus the laughter and the "eesh."

Madison Square Garden is Devin Booker's favorite place to play outside of Phoenix. This kind of makes one think twice.

He's said that before. That's why the Suns adjusted their lighting in Phoenix because Booker loves the theater style lighting in MSG.

With Mikal ending up in New York, I am a little concerned they could add Booker somehow. A deal centered around picks and OG Anunoby. Devin is also good friends with KAT dating back to Kentucky. The Knicks also have Cam Payne and Shamet. I might become a Knick fan if he's traded there. I'll still be Suns first but will keep league pass to watch them.

I know Booker has commented about MSG before, however, with the Suns entering the offseason in such disarray, it makes one think about it more.

Problem is that the Knicks don't have any picks left since they traded almost everything for Bridges.
