COMMENTARY | It's not a secret. The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Los Angeles Dodgers don't get along.

The bad blood began well before the benches-clearing brawl on June 11 that sent Twitter into a twister.

While the two teams won't play each other again until September, they'll be battling nonetheless for the National League West title.

Here are three reasons why the D-Backs and the Dodgers make a good rivalry:

It's as natural of a rivalry as you'll find for the Diamondbacks. The close proximity, the fact that for so many years, the Giants farm team was here... Plenty of good reasons on that list.

The article ignores the biggest reason:

The fact that the Dodgers suck.

Rubbish article that ignores the Kershaw / Parra exchange.

In LA, they do not recognize Arizona anything as a rivalry. They think -- probably rightly so -- everyone thinks they are rivals with LA, an LA fans pretend to be above it and aloof.

Secretly, you know they hate the D-Backs.

Yep... They truly feel that Arizona isn't worthy of being mentioned in the same sentence, let alone placed on a level that would allow for a "rivalry". Presently, the Dodgers feel that they own the west and that the division should be theirs... It pisses them off to no end that the Dbacks have held onto first place as long as we have. However, LA has no doubts whatsoever that in short order, normalcy will be restored and the Dodgers will assume their rightful, ordained position on top of the west...
Same sentiment applies to the Suns and Lakers...

I understand you are giving their perception, but actually we could say the same. Since 1998, the DBacks 1st year, we have a better playoff record than they do. Plus we have a World Series to show for it and they have not even won an NL crown in that period. So the truth is, Diamondback fans truly feel that Los Angeles isn't worthy of being mentioned in the same sentence, let alone placed on a level that would allow for a "rivalry" :D
