Breaston is really starting to excite me; he needs to get some receving time, show he can handle it...I think he is our furture 3rd WR...

Can he catch better than Johnson????

I think he sure could run after the catch...the kid has some moves.

Breaston is not a sure-handed receiver (nor is BJ) and is easily jammed at he line of scrimmage. I do believe he will be our 3rd WR next year, but right NOW, BJ is better as our 3rd WR.

Best returner we have had in many years.

STEVIE WONDER ALL THE WAY!!!!! Bye-Bye BJ!!!!! Make room for STEVIE!!!!!!

:thewave:

No way he can replace Jonson as a receiver. Johnson is a starter on most NFL teams and has good size and speed. I like Breason just where he is and that is a returner. He might be used on some gadget plays but don't mess with success.

Breaston was a bit of a disappointment as a WR at Michigan. They expected him to be the next Braylon Edwards and he just wasn't that good. He also struggled at WR in our training camp. I'm not sure he'll ever be a quality #2 or #3. If he was showing much in practice, I think Urban wouldn't be playing so much.

Johnson easily. Breaston hasn't shown himself to even be a better receiver than Urban.

John, I think you'll get to test that "Johnson is a starter on most NFL teams" theory in a few more months when he hits the open market.

By the way, how has that sure-fire can't-miss Arkansas QB turned WR in the NFL thing working out? :) Looks like the guy is 3 months removed from being available in free agency.

I don't know where this "Johnson is a starter on most NFL teams" coming from? What has he done to earn that medal? He couldn't even stand out as a second receiver when Boldin was out. Did you hear much about BJ making huge plays while Boldin was out??

Breaston was the biggest disappointment Michigan has had in years in terms of recieving... But he is a great returner.

steve breaston has quickly become one of my favorite Cardinals. right when we drafted him he was my favorite draft pick behind buster:bang:, but we are letting his KR and PR skills distract us from the fact that he does not have good hands. but hey, thats what the offseason is for, if he could learn to catch better, he could be dangerous on deep routes and screen passes after the catch. stevie b all the way.

I don't about Breaston's skills as a WR, but we've seen plenty of incredible PR struggle when put out on the line of scrimmage - Hester and that kid who used to be ridiculous for the Chiefs (Dante Hall) come to mind. What makes those guys special is that they're really good at what they do, but sometimes that's all there is. I'm just stoked we FINALLY have someone who scares people back there.

We drafted Breaston to return kicks. Nothing else...purely as a kick returner. Any passes he catches are pure gravy.

I don't know. You have to find a way to get him the ball. He has speed and moves...you can't coach that.

Maybe they can teach him to catch.

Yep! I want him focused on being the best returner he can be. No distractions, no other responsibilities.

Looks like Whis and company are starting to work Ben Patrick into a couple of packages. I saw him lined up in the slot a couple of times on Sunday. Hopefully, he can hold on to the football better than Jerheme.

If Breaston could catch, he wouldn't been available in round #5.

I agree that Johnson will get a lot of looks in FA and he'll probably flourish just from a change of scenery (and potential being the "go-to" guy).

As for Matt Jones, man, the Jags have REALLY struggled with their highly drafted receivers. I can't help but wonder what he would demand in the open market...

I mean, at this point most teams seem to ignore him when he's on the field anyhow. If he would catch with both hands more often he could be stealth for a few games.
