Everyone wants Petzing to call 20 yard passes with a receiving group that shows no sign of getting open 20 yards down the field and an Oline that can’t hold a pocket long enough to let the receivers get that deep. This roster is just not designed to execute 20+ yard plays. You see one occasionally but not on third and long when the opponent is defending against it, it’s a bridge too far. They might try rolling Murray out and if he had time to setup, maybe it might work, but more likely he throw on the run and just floats an interception vulnerable ball.

Zero tds for our best weapon.
Running Demercado instead of Benson
Not scheming for CHJ.

Your post has nothing to do with the above.

I think the problem is there are very few plays made over the middle in the 10-15 yard range. Kyler tried one last week and it was picked. He's not good at that. Everything is underneath, on the sidelines for an 8-10 yard out, or a Murray heave and hope deep ball.
Good offenses utilize the middle of the field.

If nothing else ya kinda gotta admire self confidence
I’ve always had an extensive vocabulary (that’s what you get when you grow up as a voracious reader, thanks mom and dad!), so I almost always assume I’m in the right when it comes to word choice. But, sometimes I get tripped up (damn tech). To be honest, I tried to reproduce that just now and I don’t even know I did it the first time! Words - great. Tech - not so much.

I understand as I have always had the same issue. Though over the years I have learned to streamline my speech for mass consumption. But I love being a word nerd. when I was 7 or so I used to read the dictionary on the dumper. It started because my dad remodeled the bathroom and I could not reach all the shampoo bottles and such.

With no deep receiving threat and a mediocre middle of the Oline it would be hard for any QB to look great. That said Murray still lacks composure and that second interception was a rookie mistake. I still think he’s good enough to win with but the coaching needs to be more demanding. It was one thing to speak highly of Murray as Gannon did while taking over. It’s quite another to tolerate a lack of presence and leadership. Time to start pressuring Murray if Murray wants the job. I’m bringing in a veteran backup next season and adding an ultimatum. Murray either seizes the job or moves on.
Harry - great point and analysis of a very complicated moving object. PFF does have our line rated fairly high which is encouraging. And sometimes Murray does pass they eye test in the pocket. But other times as been mentioned many times, he looks out of control and throws off his back foot. Hopefully, next year the line will continue to improve. Giving Murray the opportunity to continue growing in the pocket. He has shown some improvement this year. Do you see more chances for improvement for the offense or defense next year? Any thoughts on what QB could push Murray?

You are hoping for that next year Murray will grow in the pocket and improve? This is year number six.

Hey Tennis player (I too like tennis), yes I'm hoping as most likely he will be back. I'm hoping an improved line could keep Kyler from getting rattled as much. Year six with the team but really he has just over 1 year with this coaching staff. I'm also hoping the defense will continue to improve. Do you think they can find a replacement for him?

I was hoping that this year Kyler would improve in a run based offense that does not put the pressure on him to be the hero like Kingsbury's did. I have now given up that hope. I do not think that Kyler will improve on what we see he is. I think we are stuck with him through 2025. We should sign a veteran to back him up and maybe replace him, or draft a 3rd round quarterback with the hope he can be the future.
