It seems BB makes all the wrong moves this season and ends up adding some kinda bad mojo to the team. Why not let Schilling hit, he was going so good, it may have been him that broke it open, we'll never know. Each time he brings in Myers I cringe. It's like a black cloud comes over BOB. ....The "Barry Bond's Specialist", hahahahahaha.

Jon Miller and Joe Morgan on ESPN were wondering if Curt38 asked to be taken out of Monday's game. When they showed the replay of Curt arriving in the dugout, they said it looked like Brenly told Curt he was done, rather than Curt asking to be taken out.

In such an important game, how could BB have even considered taking Curt out of the double-shutout?

And, with all due respect to Mark Grace, having him pinch hit, with a sub-.200 batting average and just off the DL, didn't outweigh leaving our best pitcher in the game.

It's moves like that which have contributed to our dropping to 3rd in the Division and 6th in the Wild Card race.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Just read in this morning's Republic that Curt asked to be taken out, because of a tight hamstring that would affect his baserunning and fielding.

Then Brenly said that he was going to take him out anyway.

Why, oh why, couldn't he just let it rest? He had to let us know that he makes all the decisions! People who feel secure about their performance don't have to get the last word!

Reportedly Curt had tweaked a hamstring, said he was OK to pitch but was a little concerned about running bases or covering first. So probably needed to come out.

I agree - why Mark Grace? But then ---- Why Mark Grace? Why Q? are questions to ask Joe G Jr. BB doesn't exactly have a deep bench to work with this year. He could maybe have run Danny or Lyle out there, or Elmer, who hits nearly as well as Grace or Q -and why Oscar was put in, is utterly puzzling to me.

Well stated. I was totally baffled by the Grace pinch hit decision. Spivey, Overbay and even Q has hit the ball. How many would have liked Colbrunn in the PH role? He would have looked good on our bench instead of Seattle's.

It was pretty clear yesterday that Brenly lets the "lefty/righty" issue completely dominate his managing, at the expense of every other consideration or even common sense.

In Monday's game:

- Took Baerga out for a pinch-runner, and instead of using Grace, Overbay or even Hillenbrand at 1B, he moves Counsell over to first? To keep his .240 LH bat in the lineup? Thereby saving Grace's precious .195 LH bat too? (Isn't Overbay LH with a much higher BA, or was he stuck on I-10 on the way up from Tucson?)

- Pinch-hitting Grace at all.

- After Grace batted, STILL leaving Counsell at first. THREE experienced first basemen on the bench. Fortunately there was no bunt to cover or cutoff to take, but it kept that important .240 LH bat in the lineup.

- Top of ninth, Snow and Bonds have just been wild-pitched to second and third. One out, I think. Valverde (RH) pitching to Alfonzo (RH)... but now 1B is open. Instead of putting him on to set up force plays, we continue to pitch to him. Then after striking him out, the next batter (Cruz Jr.), a lefty, is IBB'd.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It's as if Brenly had never played or seen a game in his life, but had read Chapter 1 of "Managing for Dummies," "Righty vs. Righty and Lefty vs. Lefty are Good Things".
