I heard from a reliable source that there is possible trade where the spurs maybe shipping out Barry with the intent of him being released by the other team and brought back ala Stackhouse.

If this is true I think he would be a perfect addition for the Suns especially considering he has only one year left on his existing deal. I think the suns should claim him off waivers.

Thoughts?

who is Barry going to be traded for?

The Suns have always like Brent Barry as far back as the year he was drafted. He is a shooter who has point guard skills. I don't think the Suns would have to trade anything for him if he were placed on waivers but I do not know anything about his salary. I think the Suns would have to pay the remainder of his salary if claimed off waivers.

In a van...down by the river.
I've also read where the Sterns would like to add a K.T.(heard it from the fan base that is)
I'd like to go on the record as saying...i pray that the Sterns don't wind up with either M.Miller,K.Thomas, or R.Artest.
I wish the trading deadline would just come & go already.

I'll be pissed if these trades involving Stackhouse and Barry go down. This trade-waive-resign abuse needs to be addressed by the NBA. It's clearly circumventing the salary cap and CBA. Not that I approve of it, but it makes me wonder why the hell we couldn't talk the Sonics into waiving K.T. We gave them two picks for God's sake. I thought the NBA already fixed the loophole when the Celtics did this with Gary Payton. I guess that is why we have the 30 day waiting period now. Now the players get a paid vacation to boot. Brilliant!

According to newest Yahoo report, Stu Jackson is looking deeper into the situation. A league ban for Stackhouse returning to Dallas is quite probable. :biglaugh:

Do you have a link? I will go out and look for it if not. I agree that this is getting way out of hand. I think it's an obvious attempt to circumvent the rules.

If you get traded by your team that means they didn't value you enough to keep you or valued someone else coming in the deal higher then you. That same player should be banned from returning to your team from the rest of the year to prevent any back door deals from occurring.

nope. He is a Spur now. Don't want anymore Spurs.

It would equate to signing John Paxson.

Berry never hit a shot as painful as Paxson did, but still.

I think the 30 days thing is a joke it should be that you can't resign with that team until the following season, that would prevent this kind of crap.

Great article. Again, prevent guys included in trades from returning to that team in the same season. Problem solved. The league had better do something.

PS. I wouldn't mind seeing Brent Barry here. He would provide another slasher and outside threat. Do it.

I do believe the league office has the prerogative to negate any trade or signing, even if it is technically legal, if, in their estimation it is an intentional circumvention of the CBA.

Now this trade has gone down I think my source will be okay with me reviving this thread. Apparently the Spurs got cold feet after the whole Stackhouse "i am not going anywhere" fiasco. I was shocked to hear the sonics got yet another center but hey can't teach size right? So do we grab Barry or not?

Barry on the Suns team would be a nightmare for the Spurs. He has the ability to make that killer shot, the dagger to the heart, in the most opportune times.

Like all shooters, he gets into slumps.

But when we need a dagger, he came through.

Please don't get him!!!

Can we trade for Elson with Marks/Pike + 2nd rounder and sign Barry off waiver as consolation prize for Spurs snatching KT? Please let it happen, the Sonics owe us for that! ;)
