Why? They couldnt support a team there in the first place and no one wanted to play there.

I guess the Canadian dollar is strong enough to make it enticing at this point! ;)

Just an off the wall thought, but is there some near border location up there where Seattle and Vancouver could share ownership of an NBA franchise that is accessible for both cities. The cities are probably too far apart to make it work. I'm just trying to make my Canadian friends happy. :)

That was true 10 years ago, but I think Vancouver, at least population wise, has grown to a point where it could support an NBA team as well. Hockey continues to dominate the local sports scene but there is still a fairly strong basketball following. I'm not sure if it's enough to sustain an NBA team but you could argue both ways.

Actually the strong canadian dollar is a bad thing because players were still being paid in USD back when Vancouver still had a team (I'm guessing the Raptors are paid in USD as well). When the dollar was worth 1.5 canadian you could make it go a lot further. That plus real estate prices being ludicrously high (downtown properties sell for ~650 CAD per sq. ft) has raised the cost of living tremendously over the last 5-6 years.

So bring them to Calgary?

I like the Seattle/Vancouver idea. I don't think they need two teams so close together considering that many work in Seattle and live in Vancouver and vice-versa.

Nogales would get an NBA franchise before Vancouver ever got one again

In all seriousness, Seattle deserves their franchise back

How many people go to games compared to watching on TV? Vancover would be much better off watching the Blazers than having a Bobcat type startup.
