The Denver Broncos had a formal interview with Iowa State cornerback Darien Porter at the NFL combine last month, according to draft pundit Tom Downey.
Porter (6-3, 195 pounds) ran a 40-yard dash in 4.3 seconds and a 10-yard split in 1.49 seconds at the combine. A converted wide receiver, Porter spent six years with the Cyclones, playing as a defensive back from 2022-2024.
After beginning his college career primarily as a special teams player, Porter emerged as a starter last year and totaled 18 tackles (two behind the line), three interceptions and two pass breakups in 12 games.
The 24-year-old defensive back is now projected as a third-round prospect.
The Broncos have Pat Surtain and Riley Moss returning as their two outside cornerbacks, and Ja'Quan McMillian has played well in the slot. Kris Abrams-Draine emerged as a capable fill-in cornerback last season, but Denver could use more depth and competition at the position.
The Broncos hold seven picks in the draft, including pick No. 85 in the third round. The 2025 NFL draft will be held in Wisconsin from April 24-26.

I predicted Darien Porter would run a 4.30 40 yard dash… and he did ![]()
…but there’s more to CB than just speed:
UNREAL 4.7 passer rating allowed in 2024
3 picks
2 PBUs
6’2” 197lbs
Just 17 targets in 11 games
