I would have preferred Barbosa, I think, but whatever -- this move puts the Suns solidly in lottery territory, yet with plenty of opportunity to figure out what their young guys can do. Re-sign Lopez to something affordable, add a D-League combo guard as a 13th man in case someone gets hurt, and call it a summer.

Shannon Brown agreed to a two-year, $7M deal to return to the #Suns. Half of the second-year salary is guaranteed
And yet Babby supposedly spends too much money and overpays everyone on the Suns rosterSo it's 3.3, 3.7, or around there, meaning only about $5 million is guaranteed over the two years. That's pretty thrifty.
This makes the Suns' four highest-paid players Gortat, Dragic, Beasley, and Frye, although I'm not sure about the exact ranking. All are in the $6-7.5 million per year range. Well, Childress is in there too. I wonder whether there's any other team in the league that will have no one making $8 million plus.
I don't think Beasley is gonna be the starter. I think he will come off the bench at first and then if he plays really well, then he'll start.Good.

That's a poor starting lineup - holes at the 2 and 4 (possibly 3 too). That should position us in the top ten and in the top 5 if we have a long term injury. Finally we are rebuilding!!!!

We really do need to keep Fropez in Phx, I do hope we can get him cheap though. The big question is whether the Suns will be able to open up enough space next year for a max contract. It'll be interesting to see the final figures on recent signings and what Lopez agrees to if he returns.

Right now I think they will have around $11M available next summer if they don't re-sign Lopez, let Brown go after one year, and don't keep their first round draft picks. So they would be short. Realistically, assuming the Suns want to add at least one first round rookie, they will need to clear another $6M to be able to offer a max contract to Harden, for example. To make offers to Howard or Bynum they would need to clear around $8M. They could trade Gortat or Frye to get there. The big question is whether the Suns will be able to open up enough space next year for a max contract.
