I understand that there isn't much to choose from.Again, you do realize that 26 year old QB's are available for a reason, right?
Who do you want to bring in? I will tear up Bulger and Delhomme if you mention either of them, and the all of a sudden god like David Carr has already been signed.
There is just nothing better available that has more positive previou experience and is not more then a one year stop gap (FYI we ain't winning the Super Bowl with Bulger or Delohomme, so its best that the backup QB has at least SOME upward mobility).
So again, who do you want? Peyton isn't available. Neither is Big Ben or Matt Ryan.
I think Anderson is as legitimate "competition" as you can find for Leinart.
But if i had to choose, Bulger (if released) would be high on the list. An older, experienced qb who is already on the lower end of his career, who can be somewhat of a mentor for Matt and a drafted rookie, and who can manage a game if he has to step in for a couple. Maybe even Shaun Hill, a noodle for an arm but a guy who can win (or at leat not lose) games for you when needed to step in.
If Leinart doesn't pan out, no qb on the currently available or soon to be available list will be our quarterback going forward, so a new one will be needed. Therefore i'd rather have a back-up quarterback who's valuable in other areas.
I do want to add that i could understand that the organization likes his upside, 26 years old, nice height, strong arm. I just think the guy sucks and is a terrible quarterback. I don't see him as a mentor, and i don't see him as a manager who at the very least will keep us in games if needed.
