The BRS Draft section with player profiles is up. It will be a work in progress - updated regularly as more info flows in from various sources (including the Combine and Pro Days). Visit early and often.

(Site URL is http://www.azcardinal.com. Navigate to the Highlights Index page and click on the link to the Draft Summary Page).

Thanks. Right now, I'm trying to keep up with the official heights, weights and workout scores coming out of the combine.

Thanks to "Navy Mike" (who alerted me to a site called nfldraftcountdown) and freeze-framing TIVO when NFL Network posts some of the numbers, I've been able to post some early numbers for QB, RB and OL. (OL heights and weights are all up there. The other stuff is catch as catch-can).

Trying to keep up with this stuff in real time is kind of like trying to keep up with the draft as it happens.

The website that Navy Mike (Cardinal Czar) referred me to yesterday (nfldraftcountdown) was accessible yesterday, but denied me access this morning. If anyone has a credible source for Combine numbers, please point me in the right direction. So far ESPN, NFLNet, War Room and nfl.com (aside from some helpful but only partial Brandt info) haven't posted any numbers.

In the draft showcase, they have us taking Wright in the 2nd with O'Callaghan following after, and in the third had us taking a saftey from Florida(Watkins) with Omar Jacobs and Lutui following after that pick.

Getting O'Callaghan in the 2nd, and Jacobs or Lutui in the third would be awsome, but I don't see Lutui lasting into the 3rd, do any of you?

These are some pretty interesting plyers as well:

Joseph Addai - RB - LSU
Turned in a great time in the 40, averaging out at 4.40.

Fred Matua – G – USC
6-2 ½ 306, will do the whole workout, has talked to the Chiefs and did 31 reps on the bench, after getting three taken away for not locking out.

Marcedes Lewis - TE - UCLA
Lewis measured 6-6, 261 lbs. He will do the full workout here. He was scheduled to bench and interview later in the day.

Haloti Ngata - DT - Oregon
Measured in at 6-4, 338. He has met with the Giants, Bengals, Raiders and Rams. He says he prefers playing in a 43 over a 34 but can succeed in either.

Leonard Pope - TE - Georgia
Pope measured in at 6-7, 258. He will do all drills here and has spoken with the Eagles, Redskins, and Jaguars.

With the exception of Ngata all will be picked later than 10 but what about those measurables by the TE's!

Also have you heard much about Matua? Lutui seems to be getting most of the pub on this board. Matua must have something if the ?Chiefs are looking at him.

Take all prognostications with a grain of salt.

Strange as it may seem, "it's still early." After the Combines, we have Pro Days. And during this period there will be free agent signings which may affect (a) who teams #1 - #9 draft and (b) whether one or two teams (with totally different needs) wind up with a high pick due to a trade.

Of all the drafts in recent memory, I cannot recall one where the boards of all 32 teams may vary considerably from one another (i.e. player rankings will vary from team to team because - at least as I see it - there is a "flat" 2nd-echelon talent plateau which probably goes from #7 - #12 (depending on whose board you're looking at) all the way into the late 3rd round.

For these reasons, I think this is another one of those years where everyone's mock draft will be ripped up and in most waste-baskets about midway in Round One.

Note - This is the kind of draft where Dennis Green's "best available athlete" approach works best. Because, at any point where they draft, the Cardinals - like Holden Caufield (Catcher in the Rye) - can "stand at the bottom of the cliff" and catch the best athlete who falls over it.

Because of the unpredictability of this year's draft, there should be good value for us in each round.
