Actually, Boxofficemojo has it estimated to do $86 million, including Monday...where did you see these final numbers? It still has Monday to do yet.
86 million would be a crazy adjust, and yes, I have it

The Mummy Returns - $68139,035

My point is that a big opening weekend does not necessarily a good movie make.![]()

The investment I suggested isn't doing so bad either, with a much better roi and potential for future earnings.![]()

BTW: I own 5 of these on DVD (not an Austin Powers' fan). I hope you weren't saying that all on the list were bad movies... If you were saying that...what is a "good movie" to you?

Also, I think paying $108k to earn $3.7 million is about as good a ROI as you can get.

Getting back to my post, I was just pointing out that a lot of movies make big bucks because of outside factors like competition, weather etc. Whether the movie is really good or bad is not always the deciding factor. As I am sure you movie buffs all ready knew.![]()
The best movies never make any money, and the ones that stink do.

By that statement, it's clear you do not understand ROI.
Nice gain though.
Much better than your advice on the Matrix: Reloaded.![]()

Actually, you can probably trace the success and failure of movies today to one major thing--marketing. The best movies never make any money, and the ones that stink do.

I don't think you can say NEVER for best movies, but I would admit it probably happens a lot.

Yeah, well maybe I don't understand BIM's idea of what ROI means, but considering I'm at $44 million now, and you're around $28, I think that your understanding of the word hasn't helped you much.
Mike
PS. I'm at $19 million in YTD now...be careful, or it may be passing your REG port soon![]()

Mikey, chill, I wasn't slamming you.
I obviously know you're ahead of me in the game (although you never fail to pat yourself on the backski). That still doesn't change the definition of ROI.
I was just pointing out that you didn't make the $3.whatever million on $108k, as you said, but whatever it actually took to buy 50,000 shares at $135. The "purchase price - commish" is your investment. And you did make a nice return on it.![]()
Back to the subject, I enjoyed Bruce Almighty, but still thought it could have been a lot better. I enjoyed Liar, Liar much more. The scene in Almighty with the other news anchor was hilarious. Many of the other funny parts were in the trailers.
As for HSX, I was without a PC for Thursday and Friday and could not cash in on $4 million gain that it presented. Bummer.
