I'm just saying I thought in preseason it was due to his knee but it still is the same now so I'm wondering if as you said, that's just who he is at this point in his career.

he's a very solid RB, can't keep fumbling 3 times but I doubt he will, but I do think he's leaving yards out there at times on the rare occasions we actually block the play well.

I like him but I'm much less inclined to think we should bring him back if this is who he is.

One of the things that my Steelers-fan buddy told me when we signed him was that I was going to hate the way that he carried the ball away from his body, and that he'd avoided being a fumbler for most of his career (although he had 3 in just 4 games last year with Pittsburgh), but it was going to be trouble.

Mendenhall can't play that way? Fumbling and averaging under 4 YPC with little burst is the only way he can play.

He gets way too many touches, get the ball in the hands of guys that can actually make plays. Mendenhall ain't one of them.

I'm one if the few that never had a problem with that statement. It does work if you have the horses to run it.

The problem is and his downfall was an inability to find the horses. It's a shame too.

No, the problem and his downfall was his inability to adjust his system to the horses he had.

Pure and simple. His system DOES work, no doubt. But he needs the parts to make it work. He was the master of forcing square pegs into round holes.

I don't care what system you had the horses he had weren't going to work. Skelton? Lindley? Kolb? Just not enough talent to make it work at that position and a few others. Adjusting wouldn't have mattered with these bozos on the field.

Too bad for him that he signed off on those dopes.

Sure, but you don't keep trotting out "the system works" mantra...

because of that.

There was a point when in AZ, it appeared Rivers might be there for the taking. If we are to assume that HC Whiz had any say in personnel. ANY SAY WHATSOEVER, and I think its fair to say that he at least had the ear of the people that wanted him to win, then he should have made a play for him. Instead he trotted out hot garbage onto the field time and time again.

Whiz, excellent coordinator? probably. Head coach? Maybe in tandem with a GM who understands what he needs for his system. Here? No way, for a possible number of reasons that no one here is actually privy to.

But its still too early to say what Whiz role on SD is. I think McCoy may be the reason whiz and his offense look so good right now.

Can't argue that we don't know for sure how big a role Whiz has in SD.

I did see a panel discussion & a reporter was recounting his interviews with SD players. Whiz's name came up often and McCoy's was mentioned once. They were discussing the O and how well Rivers is doing.

As a HC Whiz did take this team to the SB. Those who give all the credit to Haley just refuse to look at how he has done since he left AZ. Those who give all the credit forget what he looked like his first couple years in AZ.
