Arians retired. He doesn't want to coach anymore. He's not walking into this disaster.

He's Lombardi compared to this staff.
But still along a spectrum. He’s not the best that ever coached, or even among those that coach now. As cheese succinctly pointed out this isn’t linear. It’s not “if not BA then worst coach ever.” There are a number of coaches in the nfl right now that I would still take over BA (Mcvay, belickeck, Peterson, Reid just to make a few). And yes I recognize that none of those guys are currently available but the idea is to find the next great one. Some of you are so afraid of going back to old days (where we are now) that you’d prefer to just stick with good enough or good instead of striving for great.

it would have to be as interim HC. You cant have the old HC hovering over the shoulder of the new HC

No reason why BA couldn't become the next Tom Moore...

However - what we don't know whether the reason BA stepped down was health-related.

The woods are filled with teams who have created their own mgt structures that stray from the traditional. So why not bend a few rules to create a special spot for BA if it will help the club?
