No matter how strong or packed w/ muscle you are, a shot to the short ribs - the lower 2 floating ones - HURTS.
Hello, league office! - The leg whip on Nash deserves a suspension.
If a guy did that at Encanto Park, he'd need a complete set of dentures the next day.
Soccer tactics in basketball suck!

Nash has been guilty of that a couple of times, including once this year against Chris Paul I think it was...

It's not in the ESPN highlights anymore.....

For those that didn't see it. Bowen had been hounding Nash with full court pressure all night so Amare sets a screen near the 3pt line as Nash is bringing the ball up. Bowen sees the screen and puts the tip of his elbow into Amare and hits him in the soft spot just below the center of his chest. Amare is bent over in pain for 5-7 seconds and as usual the refs see it and just let it go so he starts yelling at Bowen and his teammates have to hold him back. I was surprised we didn't get a technical foul called on us.

Its only a suspension if he does it to chris paul .... and misses! The league knows all about this from the films, their actions will be a confirmation of their standards -or lack thereof- for cheap shots that risk injury.

I just watched it there again. This the link where Bowen puts Nash on the floor at the 3:47 mark of the 4th quarter. Bowen has an uncanny knack for getting his feet and legs under the person he is defending. He is always looking away when he does it. Here is the link.

it's not that it's egregious or can even cause harm. it's that it is the same exact crap as the horry hip check. the team has lost the game, they throw out a cheapshot meant to cause a reaction and get under another team's skin. it worked in the spurs series and league looked like fools for their actions - not because of the enforcement of the rule, but because of how disparate the punishment seemed. here again we have an horry-like action meant to cause a reaction, but this time no retaliation (thank god). the league should suspend bowen for it. it was not a "basketball play," it was meant as provocation. the league doesn't take action it is asking for a replay of last season's debacle.

Sorry I was talking about Bowen's cheapshot on Amare. I didn't realize you were linking to a video on another Bowen cheapshot on Nash.

Man Bowen is a sneaky SOB. I saw that one in the game, and he tripped Nash another time after that. He needs his kneecap or ankle broken to see what it feels like.

Question? Can Dantoni or anybody representing the Suns Ballclub submit the tapes focusing on this kind of crap and request a review towards the NBA and League officials after last night?

This is just embarrassing. You guys are crying because Bowen ran into Stoudemire in a screen? What was Stoudemire expecting when he set the screen? That the defender (Bowen) will magically stop chasing Nash? Does he know what the purpose of the screen is?

What was Bowen supposed to do? Jump over Stoudemire to avoid hitting him? Run into Stoudemire with his face? Stop defending?

It is laughable how Stoudemire was acting like he was hurt. What did the x-rays say? That Stoudemire is in grave trouble because he has no guts?

listen taint, who the hell runs around with their chicken wing sticking out pretending not to see the screen. Its Bowen you fool, the only embarrasing thing is the fact you are trying to defend his actions.

LOL, watch this, see how defender goes into the screen.

Notice nobody that has a brain would intentionally run into a 6'10", 250 lb athlete without protecting the body somehow. I am sure Stoudemire thinks it's wrong that anyone who dare go through a screen he set.

Oh, I just got hit by an elbow in a basketball game while I set a screen, let me crumble over for 10 seconds on the court, then miraculously stand up and have the power to fake charge someone once the whistle is blown.

BTW, it was surprising, given that the Suns were on offense, I expect Stoudemire to act like he was hurt on defense, then miraculously heal when he goes back on offense.

EDIT: BTW, what actions? Trying to go through a screen? There is ONE indefensible action that Bowen committed in his career, and that was kick Allen in the back intentionally while both of them fell on the floor, that was cheap and dirty. But going through a screen? It would be indefensible if he actually gave up and NOT do it as a defensive player.

This is the last post of yours I will read before putting you on Ignore, but I have to admit that the last line is pretty funny.

First, no matter your stance on whether Bowen is dirty of not, this example of running into a screen is a terrible example. If anything, it only casts doubts on the mental strength of Stoudemire.

Second, T-Mac didn't think Bowen was dirty, Kobe didn't think so, Jeff Van Gundy didn't think so. In fact, the only players (outside of the Suns) who said Bowen is dirty is Ray Allen, Vince Carter, Steve Francis and Isiah Thomas. Even Jamal Crawford said he didn't think Bowen was intentional in hurting him.

Ask Sczerbiak if he thinks Bowen's kick to his FACE was a legit basketball play, Amchang.
Whenever the camera gets a view of Bowens face, I see the dead eyes of a sociopath, one who claims to be a Christian at that.

Do you live anywhere near Phoenix? If so, PM a location where we can meet, so I can elbow you in the Solar Plexus and/or your lower ribcage. Let's see how you feel.

BTW, just so we're clear: You don't "protect" yourself from a screen with the sharp end of your elbow aimed at the screener's sensitive areas. You use a forearm, *******.

Hey, I couldn't find the instructional video on leg whips or planting your foot under jump shooters.

The defender in the video didn't lead with an elbow once. I think he was doing it wrong. The announcer did say to do ANYTHING to help get a teammate an open look at the basket. He just forgot to apply that principle to defense. Maybe the Bowen Foundation can create an instructional video....you know, for kids.

I bet you that David Robinson is rolling over in his grave.

Not as embarrassing as your team giving nba fans even more ammo to call them dirty. You obviously have self-esteem issues.

What are you trying to do here? Convince Suns fans that Bowen isn't dirty? Give me a break! Everyone knows he's a punk. No one respects or watches your team. Thats if they even know who the Spurs are.

Depending upon angles and everything else, it very well may have knocked the breath out of Amare. Out of anyone. Of course he is not expecting that, he is guarding his groin and not moving so as to avoid a second offensive foul on a Bowen screen. So why is going to a knee in that case a sign of weakness? And leading with your elbow into a screen is MUCH different than leading with your shoulder or forearm into a screen. No one teaches to lead with an elbow into a screen. Get real.

It wasn't legit, and he was called for a foul. What was the problem?
