In connection with the Mike Leach book that he got permission to write in.

Why is ESPN protecting James and his son?

I never got that whole story the more you watched Craig James the more obvious it was he was just protecting his son and either lying or telling the same lies his son told him. It was really obvious that while Leach may not be easy to play for, he wasn't Atilla the Hun either.

The good old boy's club. ESPN is all about drama and fairy tales, and never let facts get in the way. Their 4 day coverage of the British Open sucked so badly, they should be banned from ever broadcasting that event again. It is no wonder the super conferences are constructing their own conference broadcast networks, given the stranglehold ESPN has on college football and their blatant bias.

PS. Mike Leach, being a non traditionalist, is refreshing. I started following TTech and Leach, just because of his style and entertainment factor. That team was a blast to watch.

Bruce Feldman is getting a screw job. Anyone ever checked to see if Rupert Murdoch has his fingers in the ESPN pie?

I find it easy not to care in the slightest at any of this. :)

I find it amusing that I often get negative reactions when I tell "guys" that I don't care for ESPN and that I generally avoid watching it

Apparently I'm not as much of a man because I don't care to watch any of their programs that will tell me how the yankees & red sox are doing or the next great move the lakers or cowboys will make

Let alone their entertainment & schtick .... I mean if Chris Berman doesn't say the wagons are circled, then the game never really happened

The one thing they have on me is their live broadcasts - which I'll watch because I want to watch the actual game .... but even then they try hard to mess it up with their broadcasts

I really don't like ESPN and avoid it whenever I can .... this is just another example of why it sucks

Yup for ESPN, the world involves Boston, New York and LA alone, with the Cowgirls.

ESPN denies suspending college football writer for co-authoring Leach bio

By Michael McCarthy, USA TODAY
Updated 2d 21h ago

UPDATE: ESPN is denying reports that it suspended, or disciplined, college football writer Bruce Feldman for co-authoring ex-Texas Tech coach Mike Leach's upcoming biography Swing Your Sword.

"There was never any suspension or any other form of disciplinary action," says spokesman Josh Krulewitz in an email. "We took the time to review his upcoming work assignments in light of the book to which he contributed and will manage any conflicts or other issues as needed. Bruce has resumed his assignments."

Excerpts from Mike Leach’s book reveal the lies by Adam James that got him fired at Texas Tech
July 18, 2011 By Robert Crowe Comments (0)

Mike Leach’s new book tells in detail what happened in 2009 with Adam and Craig James that led to his wrongful termination at Texas Tech.

Leach was fired at Texas Tech based on false statements made by Adam James, who is the son of former football star and college football analyst Craig James. Craig James claimed that his son was forced to practice with a concussion and had been locked in an electrical closet for three hours.

In an excerpt from Leach’s new book it reveals that Adam James was lying about the whole incident and he admitted this under oath.

According to Pincock’s statement, he specifically told James not to go into the electrical closet by the media room. James admitted under oath that he ignored Pincock’s instructions. He admitted that he let himself into that closet and that he shot a video — a video that would start a firestorm of allegations — because he thought it was funny.

Craig James became so enthralled in his son’s lies that he went on a personal crusade to get Mike Leach fired. Craig James went to the Chancellor of Texas Tech University to spread his son’s lies and demanded that Mike Leach be fired.
According to both his and Anders’s depositions, Craig demanded that I be fired. Hance called me and said that Craig had phoned Anders to complain about his son being forced to play before his concussion was healed, which was simply not true. I explained the situation to Hance, and also told him how often Craig called up the Tech coaches to lobby for more playing time for his son. I told him that Adam had been a constant discipline problem and that I planned on cutting him from the team. Hance told me not to cut Adam.

Things got worse for Leach when the company that Craig James worked for, ESPN, reported this story in an extremely biased way that made him look guilty of these false accusations. This story was reported on pure speculation and had not been based on facts. Once they reported this story the public had automatically assumed that Leach was in the wrong and needed to be fired.

The actions by the two James men have caused them to embarrass not only their reputations but the reputation of Texas Tech. Both Craig and Adam James need to be held accountable for their actions that led to the firing of Mike Leach. It will probably never happen, but the two of them need to make a public apology to Mike Leach and admit that they were in the wrong for getting him fired.

Texas Tech claimed that the Adam James incident was not the reason that Mike Leach got fired, but it certainly was not because of his team’s lack of success. In all ten seasons that Leach was the head coach at Texas Tech the Red Raiders made it to a bowl game. Leach turned Texas Tech into perennial contenders to win the Big 12 South every season and won a total of 84 games.

This incident will forever tarnish the credibility that Craig James will have as a member of the media. The James name is already taking a hit in the public’s view and this ugly incident is the first thing that people think of about Adam and Craig James.

Wow that's a pretty big story you'd think ESPN would be all over this.... nevermind.

What a crock, they give Craig James the bully pulpit and let him just trash Mike Leach and then don't even seem to comment on his son admitting he made it up?

James is a sleeze. How he gets covered on stuff and other take the fall (Only to be brought back) is beyond me.

The backlash ESPN got from the Feldman thing caused them to backtrack. They have too much power in the Sports world, and they like it that way. They can orchestrate games AND game times. (Boise once played a 9am game.)

ESPN was instrumental in showing a lot of Boise state games, but we also had to play on every day but saturday. That will change a lot this year with being in the mountain west. The coverage will be less, but I think Boise state football is ok.
