I was a little skeptical about this being the Halftime Act, but now I think this guy can put on a good show. Just look at his 2012 Grammy Performance and tell me it wouldn't translate to the SB Stage.

Throw in RHCP and I think this could be surprisingly good, like "Prince at halftime" good.

I like Bruno's stuff. Just wish they would have had Metallica back in the day, when they were young and still relevant. Or old school Alice in Chains, playing in the cold and snow. That would have been surreal. People would be jumping from the upper decks.

Halftime performance at the Super Bowl is selected strictly for the people who do not care about football at all so more people watch the event. There is nothing about Bruno Mars (who looks like Sammy Davis Jr, without facial hair) that says football. In other words, it is commercial crap for ratings and is not about the very event everyone is meeting for and that is a game. You have a freaking extended break when teams should be on the field already

I agree. He's very young yet old school....He sings! No screaming, rapping, etc. Plays the piano.

Oh, and he's from Hawaii so I'm a little biased but judge for yourself.

I'm into Indie/Alternative, but when I heard Bruno I thought there was a real Michael Jackson late 70s vibe about him. A real authentic talented guy writing good tracks and not relying on modern production and vocoders and singing other peeps songs.

Move the halftime show to the Probowl in Hawaii. True fact here in Phoenix, our sewage system is old, very old. Every year the workers watch the levels during the Superbowl, because at halftime they go through the roof, like clockwork. More and more people keep moving here too.

I am a little worried that his most recent hits have been ballad-y. Hope he does some up-tempo stuff.

The above is one f the whiniest posts I have ever read. We get it, you dont like the halftime stuff at the superbowl. I dont either. But Bruno Mars is an excellent choice fr wat is normally an exercise in BORING. Springsteen, who I love nearly put me to sleep. Tom Petty? yawn. Bruno Mars is a multi-platinum artist who represents everything farty ass grown ups like me would want in a musician for the younger generation. Live band, writes his own songs. Has an amazing voice. I love some of his songs, and hate others, but theres no denying hes both super talented, and a really nice guy.

I think the Superbowl pandered to boring middle America football fans by adding RHCP ( who havent been interesting or relevant since Mothers Milk) to the bill at the last minute.

But seriously, Jetstream, could you find ANYTHING else to complain about regarding this superbowl? You dont like this thread? I suggest we move your posts to another forum.

I like most of Bruno Mars' stuff. Wish they had let him do the halftime solo. Adding a secondary group just seems stupid to me.

Here is something I did not know about SB halftime performances: The musicians are not paid and actually have to pour their own money into paying for backup dancers and musicians, pyrotechnics, glam squads, etc.

Here's Why Bruno Mars Is Not Being Paid To Perform During Today's Super Bowl Halftime Show
