McKinnie was just cut by Minnesota....I cannot find a scouting report on him. He is 6'8" and 31 yrs old....I vaguely remember he was a decent OT, but the mind slips sometimes.
I know the FO is Fitz Focused right now, but might this guy be a decent add for depth at tackle?

Not the force he used to be, but it seems like a curious cut.

He's also the kind of guy you'd think Grimm would have liked in the past--a big mauler.

I have not found any details on it,perhaps he was cut for cap reasons?
AN OT from one of the best lines in football, with 10 yrs experience, should be a good addition barring a hidden injury.

according to the shaky source wikipedia....he was cut for contractual reasons, and was a pro bowler in 2009...had a streak of 80 consecutive games started....
IMO he would definitely be worth a good look.......even if he did get busted on that minnesota party boat

I was going to make a snarky comment, but then looked up his stats of pro football focus and saw he was #10 @ LT in pass blocking efficiency last year. Perhaps one of those "maybe at the right price" kind of situations.

Regardless, I'm making a mental note for next offseason to compile a listing of all of the free agents/cuts that are suggested on this board. I'd imagine it would end up being quite the list!! :)

From PFT:

Ultimately, dealing with McKinnie was no longer fun for Minnesota. He reportedly showed up to camp “extremely” out of shape and overweight, which forced the Vikings to place him on the “NFI” (non-football injury) list. He was due $5.6 million in total pay for 2011 and his play had fallen off quite a bit in 2010.

Maybe he, Deuce, and Keith could have their own biggest loser contest?

+1

LaCanfora was just talking about him.

I dont know what it is, but he missed out on a $250,000 workout bonus.......if that's a bonus to work out and he still didnt do it? WOW

He showed up to camp around 360-370 lbs.

Plus he's got a rap album out, if anyone's interested. lol.

He's good when his mind is focused on football, and clearly it isn't. Pass.

Urban tweeted that McKinnie's reputation precedes him and the Cardinals are not going to be interested. Not sure if he has a source or he's guessing.

The weight is not terribly bad for a lineman that is 6'8."

That said, I know nothing about him.

The Vikings fans are rejoicing, and more than vocal about what a POS he is. My first reaction was "SIGN HIM!" but take a look at some Vikes boards and they are as happy about losing this guy as we were about cutting Derek Anderson.

Check these comments.

Cards fans say the same stuff about any guy that we let go--and guys who are much less productive than McKinnie.

He won't come here, and the Cards don't want any more competition for their hand-picked bookends than Jeremy Bridges. It's hilarious to hear Calvisi pumping these offensive linemen year after year on Cardinals Underground in the preseason.

It just occurred to me: If we don't want overweight linemen, we could always move LSH to left tackle...
