If it wasn't for Mitch's incessant rants on BSP, there wouldn't even need to be a poll. I'll give him(Mitch) credit,he made BSP probably the most talked about 3rd string QB in the NFL.There was no way he was ever going to be Leinart out.As i said earlier, there's a reason he's only thrown 1 pass in 6-7 years in the NFL and ,yet, some were comfortable that he could run the Cards and them not miss a beat. Let's call it like it is, the guy is a 3rd string,at best, QB and probably should've went to the Chiefs. I don't think Palko will ever be anything great but why waste a million bucks on the #3 QB and stunt the development of Palko, who could turn into an eventual #2 for Leinart when he takes over.

There is a reason Brian St.Pierre has never been more than a #3 NFL QB. It was on display Thursday night. The most frustrating thing is that at the first sign of pressure he starts to scramble around and doesn't keep his eyes and attention downfield. In other words, he's waaaaay too skittish in the pocket. I guess I'm spoiled by Kurt Warner, but this guy is absolutely no threat to Matt Leinart IMO.

Tyler Palko OTOH showed some promise.

I don't disagree you guys at all, but I don't want to be too harsh on BSP yet. I want to give him the next game to either redeem himself or simply confirm what a lot of us thought of him from the start.

I agree, and like Whiz said, the Saint did not get much help.

Funny, playing against the last line of members of teams must not count. I was impressed by Palko's play last night, but hard to even find mention of it this morning.

Another outing like that and BSP will have donated his 1M salary to the re-sign Q fund.

We all know who looked better then who last night, but I cant answer the poll yet, its just to early. Lets see how they do against different players and different schemes. They wont play the Steelers every game.

Judging this after one game you have to say Palko, but it is only one preseason game.

Got another 3 to go.

I posted this on another thread that BSP will most likely make the team because he knows Whis's system and hasn't played this poorly in the past. He is a better #3 qb at this time then Palko. Palko if he continues to look decent would be an excellent candidate to make the practice squad. He is a project and needs time to develop.

I would tend to agree with this if it were Whis's first year as our coach. But we now have 3 QB's that understand the system very well. I believe it's time for the other 2 to start teaching someone that may actually have a chance to play some day. Not saying that TP is that guy but I am saying that BSP isn't.

BSP in a landslide.

Whiz knows what he's got with BSP.

I'm not sold on Palko. He'll have to prove it to me a few more times against better competition.

Does it make it any better if you know you have crap?

BSP also knew what he had with Whiz and the Cards. He's had a lot longer to prepare himself for this opportunity to show what he's got in a meaninngles pre-season game against fellow 3rd string competition, and this is what we get?

As opposed to the incumbent BSP already proving that he is terrible against the same lack of competition.

I can see if Palko fades when the competition gets stronger, and if he does, he won't be any worse than BSP, who started out with an already faded performance. Can't see BSP improving when the going gets tougher.

I'm in the Palko camp, but to be fair, it's only really been one poor showing from BSP...even if the difference between the two performances was so striking.

I agree, but it doesn't bode well that BSP played so poorly against the team he used to practice against every day. I thought he'd have a better understanding of Lebeau's defense.

Nobody has fully articulated it (Lord knows I've unsuccessfully tried) but there's a fundamental reason why Palko excites me more than BSP (other than that BSP had a "bad hair day" last Thursday).

Imagine for a second:

"Warner is out and Leinart gets sacked, injures a shoulder and our opponent returns the fumble for a TD. Let's say it now puts us behind by 6 points or maybe it narrows our lead to 2 points with 3 minutes left in the game.

Who do you want to replace Leinart?

My fear is that we'll put in a "game manager" who might keep us from falling further behind or will drain most of the 3 minutes off the clock; but he won't have what it takes to lead the team to a game-winning TD or run the entire 3 minutes out.

From what I saw Thursday, I view BSP as more of a game manager. I view Palko as a game changer.

We still have a couple of weeks for both QB's to change that perception, but as of right now, that's how I see it.

My sentiments exactly... and the enthusiasm and energy displayed by Palko can only transfer the rest of the team if he plays as 'all out" as he showed in the first game... fun to watch...someone who truly loves the game and wants to be out there to make something happen... it's all good... SO FAR :)

I haven't voted, but like everyone else, I liked what I saw from Palko, especially being (also like everyone else, probably) a Flutie fan.

But what's Whiz' purpose for the #3 QB? Most likely he's looking for someone to know the system, not make mistakes, and execute conservative plays. Either to close out a win, or to close out a loss with minimal risk of injury. Which one is theright guy to do this?

But if the performances in game #1 repeat themselves, it'll get mighty hard to even make this argument for BSP.

For me they are about equal on talent level so give me the cheaper player and lets spend that money elsewhere.
