Aaron (Phoenix): If Kobe had clotheslined Bell, do you think he would have been suspended one game? I don't think he would have been. And I think the NBA is underestimating how much longer fans are going to put up with double standards for stars. It is becoming apparent that your team won't advance if you don't have a money making star on your team. I'm not claiming there is a conspiracy, but one way or another, those teams are getting the breaks...

Ric Bucher: You're not claiming conspiracy but teams with stars are getting breaks. Ooooookeydoke. What is Steve Nash, if not a money-making star? Raja is lucky he only got one game. Here's what I'm tired of: fans who can't concede their team is being outplayed and chooses to blame the refs. Blame Kurt Thomas being hurt. Blame Shawn Marion for not figuring out how to counter Lamar. Or, maybe, accept that your team, just maybe, isn't as good as its regular-season record might've indicated. Phoenix, you've had NBA basketball for a long time. It's time you started showing jjjjjjjust a little more sophistication about the game.

This really pisses me off I've always liked Bucher till now...

Nothing really to add, but we do need to find out where C-Dogg is.

More importantly, we need to find an A-Dogg.

Oh, wait....Maybe A-Bomb can become and A-Dogg!

Bucher is an idiot. He takes a question about how stars get calls and turns it into insulting the entire Phoenix fan base. What is that all about? Sounds like ESPN's MO.

Bucher was on ESPN radio yesterday talking about Phoenix and how the overall reaction to the officiating is that of a "small market city".

I guess Bucher failed to read the articles written by Marc Stein, Peter Vescey, and many others who work and reside in large markets (outside of LA).

When Phoenix and Tucson eventually collide in 10 years, and the Phoenix/Tucson megalopolis is one of the five biggest in the world, what will Ric Bucher think of us then?

It should be noted Bucher spent five years in San Diego before he became a professional San Fran/DC snob. He's looked down his nose at Phoenix ever since, and might as well have written the "fold like a tortilla" and "overgrown cowtown" comments himself in the early 90s.

The fact of the matter is Phoenix is not some overgrown cowtown. It's made up of people just like him -- people who grew up in foreign countries like Ohio and moved West for opportunity. But, you know, only the sophisticated ones work in uppity towns like San Fran.

Bucher is a Kobe jocker. Has been for a long time.

IMO he likes the Suns too, but there's no question which team he's rooting for in this series.

Here's what I'm tired of: fans who can't concede their team is being outplayed and chooses to blame the refs.
Yeah, I'm tired of that too.

I know one money making star that is not getting any breaks... Steve Nash.

Perhaps Nash is not arrogant enough and self centered enough for Bucher.

Another player that never got the calls he deserved (probably because of his polite demeanor) was Kevin Johnson. I still cringe while remembering the hits he took while driving the ball to the basket and getting knocked to the floor with seldom a foul called.

What a stupid response. If the refs see Walton's out-of-bounds, the series is 3-2 Phoenix. The Suns haven't played well, but they most empatically are NOT getting outplayed by the Lakers.

We are not getting blown out. Each game (except game 5) was very winnable by both teams. The only reason people think we are being "outplayed" is because we are #2 seed. Our record is actually worse than Laker's after Kurt Thomas went down.

It's all about perspective. Bucher can say we sucked because we couldn't take advantage when Kobe was sitting down in 2Q. I can equally say when Kobe actually played Laker wasn't leading at all until the very last shot when the refs ignored out-of-bound, time-out and physical contacts. What does this mean? Nothing. He is rooting for Laker so he'll only bring out the perspective that favors Laker just like a Suns homer will only bring out perspective that favors Suns.

in games 2, 3, and 4 if you took out the really bad calls that the refs made the suns would have won all of those games. the blocking foul on nash for kobes dunk, the tech on daiw for pushing tim thomas out of bounds, the out of bounds play that caused the jump ball, you could go on and on but in the end the suns would have won those games if they had been called fair and if buchers is to dumb to look at these fact then he shouldnt be allowed out at night.

We are, afterall, playing the lakers. Kobe and Shaq were handed the first of thier 3 rings on a silver platter after the refs gave them the series that eliminated portland. The lakers will always get the calls, they always have and they always will. It will be up to the suns to make sure that they put the game out of reach enough for the refs to not be able to hand the game to the lakers when it matters in crunch time.

There's a difference between "judgment" calls, which I fully expected the Lakers to get the better of, and someone clearly standing 18 inches out of bounds while being awarded a jump ball with seconds to play. I honestly didn't see that one coming.

Let's not get carried away. It's more like 6 inches. :D

Actually his entire foot is out of bounds with room to spare and he has big feet so it's at least 14 inches.

Right, exactly. I'd say 18 inches is about right, if you go by the outermost part of the foot.
