Did he do anything else besides throw? I know at the combine he didn't do any athletic drills, which I thought was highly unusual.

Wow....

"I've had several teams tell me they're having trouble just getting to set up appointments to meet with him," Mayock said Thursday during Path to the Draft's coverage of the UL pro day. "Not just work out, but appointments to meet with him, to put him up on the board, to work him out, to have dinner with him. And remember, and again I'm not taking a shot here at anybody, his mom is representing him, his mom has obviously his best interest at heart, but you're doing the kid a disservice if NFL coaches and general managers are calling and you can't even get an appointment set up."

Interesting to hear Lamar Jackson give a sample play call from Louisville.. “Gun Right Doubles 80”

Not a lot of verbiage. Some NFL play calls can have 12-15 words w/various tags, etc..

Different level of communication COULD be required at next level..

A couple of red flags here for sure. Every time I think he could be our guy, I start getting reasons in my head that he shouldn't be.

Wow is right. Could kill his draft position.

People are just so damned desperate to rip Jackson and look for any perceived fault or flaw.So now Talkinghead Mayock says Jackson is difficult to see and meet.

Maybe those teams are calling a wrong number...lol

Or maybe those teams are throwing up a smokescreen to drop his draft stock.

Ridiculous. This kid can play and Keim better trade up if he falls out of the top 8. Can't stomach a season with Bradford teasing us before going down and Glennon taking over. Draft Lamar and at least we have excitement on our side, and hopefully success.

Have we seen him listed as doing private visits with any teams? He hasn't reportedly done one with the Cardinals so it really isn't hard to imagine.

If what he is saying is true that is not a smart move no matter who the player is.

Wait, I found he did do a private workout for the Texans, which to me is strange, they drafted their QBOF last year.

A lot of teams are desperate for a QB. They want to verify that LJ (or any other college prospect) is going to be a good hire and team player.

Hope LJ gets some advice and mentoring from someone from within the NFL ranks that he can trust to help him through the draft process. He is applying for a job and needs to meet potential employers at least half-way. Got to show 'em your resume---show 'em what you can do not only passing but running, etc. A team wants to know what they are investing in. Need those comparison numbers to judge vs the other QBs on their board. That includes everything on the team's checklist---from football IQ at the chalkboard, to drills, etc. Refusing to run opens up questions regarding his health status. LJ has already stated that he's entering the draft as a QB. To his credit he let teams know that. He should still run the 40 because that is a big part of his game as a QB.

He's doing himself a disservice by not fully participating in the combine and now at his pro-day. Teams that were considering him will have question marks---is this guy going to tell us what he will/will not do if we bring him in???

Watson down with his second ACL. LJ may be on the Texans radar not only as a back-up but maybe the starter if Watson doesn't recover.

Jackson had several interviews at the combine and talks with GMs etc; As for jumping thru hoops for the scouts at his PRO-DAY..he threw a bunch and that was the main thing several talking heads where spewing about earlier .No matter what he does or doesn`t do there will be some senile old fart like Polian who will say negative things .

Every single guy in the draft gets put under the microscope and every single thing they have EVER done is evaluated. The last thing a player needs to do prior to hiring day is to give teams an excuse to not take them in the draft.

More than any other player, the QB is seen as the key representative of the franchise. He is being given the keys to the multi-billion dollar car and of course teams want to know who they are hiring as the driver. A lot of careers and future employment hinge on how well the front office brain-trust makes their draft day decisions.

If you are a college player and want to get hired and have your chance to earn millions---you jump through the normal hoops every other player jumps through. That includes running a 40 yard dash especially after claiming you can do it in 4.3. If injured, just say so.

A new hire does not get to dictate the 'hoops' he wants to jump through---at least not if he really wants to get hired.

If Jackson does have his mom screwing up his perception, then maybe it works in our advantage if we are interested in him at fifteen. Hell, there is such a microscope on Mayfield's character, I hope he does something before the draft which is blown out of proportion so he can be available too

If people have seen Jackson play and many talked to him at the combine then him not running the 40 at his Pro day is a deciding factor on drafting him or not then said frachise is stupid.Look at his entire career and there has been absolutely nothing negative character wise, work ethic wise or any red flags his entire time at Louisville. He did quite well interviewing at the combine.Did well on his PRO DAY throwing and if nitpicking his failure to run the 40 is used as a reason to not draft him then that shows massive stupidity by said franchise.THERE is still over 3 weeks until the draft so one would think LJ will meet several teams in that time.Jackson hasn`t gotten drunk and been arrested or beaten his girlfriend so having a little difficulty setting up meetings is somewhat small change compared to other issues by other prospects IMO.
