Great QB and he still can probably play well for another year or two. Any interest in the Cardinals going after him if Warner doesn't feel like coming back. The downside would be that maybe he'd only play 12 games.

There's a video on NFL.com about it and here's a yahoo link LINK

No thanks. The second Warner retires, the Leinart era begins and he finally gets a full season to show what he's worth. Leinart has been developing behind a veteran QB long enough.

To be honest I think Jeff Garcia is the worst QB in the leauge. I would rather have tim Rattay come back and be our QB then Garcia. I would never resign him and I kno the red birds wont either. If not Warner then its Leinart time my friends.

I don't understand all the hate on Jeff Garcia. He's had a QB rating over 90 the last few years and has a 35-12TD-Int thing going for him. He also doesn't lose fumbles very often. Health is a concern tho. Then again if he gets hurt, we still have Matt Leinart right? :p

He 1) is older than Warner 2) hasn't thrown for more than 13 TDs in 5 yrs

If Warner doesn't come back its Leinarts time to shine.

If KW retired it's ML time. I would like to have a Vet back-up though, just incase of injury to ML. That said I don't think JG would be interested in a back-up role.

Everybody's entitled to an opinion, I guess, but damn.

Agreed that he makes no sense for the Cardinals, where if Warner retires then it really is time to ride or die with Leinart, but the Vikings would be utterly insane not to consider the guy.

Garcia is gonna go win a SB with the Vikes. He is a perfect fit and knows Childress' scheme. He will be a better version of what Kerry Collins was for the Titans this year. He is solid, smart and doesn't turn the ball over.

LOL, while we're at it, lets make a deal for Gus Frerotte. We can have the all geriatric team of QBs

On a similar topic, JP Losman and Chris Simms are both free agents. If Warner were to retire, I would not mind if we signed one of them to be the backup after we get a draft and follow QB in April.

Yep. If Warner retires then get Chris Simms as a back up.

Speaking of, is it me or has MD stepped up his posting game since the playoffs? He's bringing a lot of meat to the table this month. ;)

Sure why not. Leinart isn't the answer. I'd give him a shot, but I'm not expecting anything. Learning behind a clipboard doesn't change the following

1. Injury Prone
2. Lack of arm strength
3. Him not riding and dying with the team - imo he's gone as soon as he gets a chance

Again I'll give him a shot, but ain't expecting anything.

He can have good games, but ultimately he has to have a complete turnaround imo to be almost perfect, because with that weak arm, he better be. It's also not good when you're more injury prone than Warner, and have never taken a beating. Whenever you do, you get injured, that's ML in the NFL so far.

So yes I'll take a 38 year old Garcia to backup Warner, or start IF the alternative is ML starting without any real competition.

But if he doesn't believe in the team, then why would I want him starting? I don't. But we have a contract signed so might as well give him a shot.

Garcia isn't the answer, but imho far more so than Leinart. So at this point, I'll say yes he should be in the running if Warner retires, or we want a competent backup. Maybe we look at drafting a QB? We should.

Jeff Garcia is an overrated product of west coast offences whose arms is worse than Leinarts.

His arm isn't strong, but he is experienced and accurate. I'm not saying he's the savior by any means. But on the other side you can say he's got ML's arm but an experienced brain that can also throw accurate. Plus again you wouldn't have to worry about a QB whose weak mindset can rip apart the team, and that's looking at it with rose colored glasses on.

As situated even if I wasn't the cards, and some other nfl gm, I wouldn't sign ML to any deal. A shame too. I have an affinity for left handed qb's, wishing them well more than the regular QB's, simply because like me they are left handed. I also thought at the time you couldn't pass up ML in the draft. But my question marks on him; arm/injury proneness has shown up to be big red flags so far in his career with no reason to believe it will ever change. Meanwhile more red flags have popped up every year. Such as immaturity, partying, etc.. Now it's gotten to the point I feel he is most likely a detriment to the team, or one which can arise very shortly.

Garcia on the other hand. Cheaper than ML, more accurate than ML, knows the NFL game unlike ML, and is a team player which ML isn't. Therefore Garcia should be on our radar, because imho he's simply a better QB than ML. Again that doesn't mean ML won't have a decent career, but at this point you can't expect him to finish his career with 4 years as a starting QB total. It also very well may not be his on the field play that derails him either but his 'tude off it.
