Buccaneers | Trading down a draft option
Mon, 29 Jan 2007 08:57:26 -0800
Roy Cummings, of the Tampa Tribune, reports the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be looking to upgrade numerous positions this offseason and the club could opt to trade down from their first-round draft choice (No. 3 or 4 overall) this year to accumulate additional draft choices. However, it is unlikely they will slide down too far as the Buccaneers view the 2007 Draft class as seven top prospects deep.
I would think that the 7 are: qbs Russell and Quinn, RB Peterson,Wr Johnson, OT Thomas, DE Anderson and DT Branch. Its possible that DE Adams is on the list and one of the above isn't.
I also think its important that the Cards be careful of not trading down too far. I know it's early as we still have free agency, the combine and workouts and things can change. However the Cards do have a chance to get a blue chip prospect and considering the cost of the #5 pick it has to be worthwhile.
