2021 - Prove It
Interesting to see the amount of folks with Phillip Thomas in the 3rd. Same goes for Zack Ertz in round 2.
Here's mine:
7(1) - Chance Warmack OG, Alabama
38(2) - Barrett Jones OC, Alabama
69(3) - Phillip Thomas FS, Fresno State
103(4) - Christine Michael RB, Texas A&M
140(5) - Matt Scott QB, Arizona
174(6) - Ricky Wagner OT, Wisconsin
176(6) - Michael Williams TE, Alabama
7(1) - Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma. I've had my eye on this player for the Cards for a couple weeks now. It makes sense because Johnson is a versatile player who can start at 4 positions on the line, or be an immediate backup 4 positions. Can be a very solid interior lineman in a zone-blocking scheme, and can be a blocking TE in heavy packages.
38(2) - Zach Ertz, TE, Stanford. You know he's smart, but he's also going to be an immediate starter in a base 2WR set. Is a much better blocker than Housler and a much better receiver than Jeff King.
69(3) - Phillip Thomas, FS, Fresno State. Why not just continue to draft 3rd round safeties? I'd have loved to draft Larry Warford here, but I don't think he's a scheme fit.
103(4) - Landry Jones, QB, Oklahoma. At this point, he has huge, huge upside. I don't care if all of my Sooner fan in-laws hate him. Let's keep rolling the dice. He'll be starting by Halloween.
140(5) - Cornelius Washington, DE/OLB, Georgia. It's like drafting Calvin Pace! Washington was a 3-4 DE for the Bulldogs, but will be a developmental rush linebacker for the Cards.
174(6) - Josh Johnson, CB, Purdue. The only thing less expensive than a third-day cornerback in free agency is a late-round cornerback whom you've developed for a couple years.
176(6) - Garrett Gilkey, OG, Chadron State. Maybe we can finally develop a late-round offensive lineman.
I really like Lane Johnson. Dude is an athelete, has huge upside and I love his versatility. I wouldn't mind that pick at all.
Ertz and Washington are nice picks as well.
Landry Jones name makes me think of the Cowboys and I just can't get past that.
Of the big 3 OTs, Lane Johnson is the one that excites me the most because of what I have seen on the field and his potential. His name interests me a lot similar to Terron Armstead.

They have the option of bringing him along slowly year 1 as well.
He has the athletism of Fisher, not quite the footwork yet. But he's viable there @ 7.
For me with the rankings:
7- G. Smith - QB
38- Z. Ertz - TE
69- P. Thomas - F/SS
103- D. Quessenbury - OG/OT
140- C. Harper- WR
174- T. Riddick - RB
176- S. Commings - CB

Don't know what "our system" is, but picked based on Need, not BPA. Last year was offensive line draft, this year defense.
7. Jarvis Jones OLB UGA (pass rusher - check)
38. Jonathon Cyprien SS FIU (AW replacement)
69. Gavin Escobar TE SDSU (BA overrules the draft board on this one)
103. Akeem Spence DT ILL (future Dockett replacement)
140. Kevin Reddick ILB UGA (cause I miss the days of complaining about Buster Davis)
174. Steve Williams CB CAL (fast slot corner with potential)
176. Erik Herman OG OHIO (roll the dice on small-school standout)
I also like Harper, but with our wide receiver situation I wouldn't take him higher than the 5th round as well. Personally, I think he goes in the 4th, but CBS disagrees so I will take it.
My "the offensive line isn't that bad" draft...
7 - Geno Smith - QB (West Virginia)
38 - Zack Ertz - TE (Stanford)
69 - Jonathan Franklin - RB (UCLA)
103 - Chris Faulk - OT (LSU)
140 - Ty Powell - OLB (Harding)
174 - Duke Williams - S (Nevada)
176 - Earl Watford - OG (James Madison)
I don't believe it, but our head coach might.
The fact that we should be running a lot of 2 TE sets under BA should help the OL quite a bit.Franklin is gonna be good. I just think we're gonna draft a Saftey there. Ertz improves the OL as well.
140. Kevin Reddick ILB UGA (cause I miss the days of complaining about Buster Davis)
7(1) Chance Warmack OG Alabama
38(2) Tyler Wilson QB Arkansas
69(3) Phillip Thomas FS Fresno State
103(4) Kenny Stills WR Oklahoma
140(5) *Marcus Lattimore RB South Carolina
174(6) Hugh Thornton OG Illinois
176(6) Rex Burkhead RB Nebraska
