The coaches will probably go into TC with only a few spots to be decided, as a fan, I have a lot more openings. My take:

OFFENSE

QB
Set (1) CP
Openings (1 or 2)

RB
Set (2) DJ and Logan
Openings (2)

TE
Set (2) Gresham and Niklas
Openings (1)

WR
Set (4) Larry, JB, JJ and JB
Openings (2)

OL
Set (7) Starting five, plus Wetzel and Johnson
Openings (2)

OFFENSE-Set (17) Openings (7)

DEFENSE

DL
Set (5) Nkemdiche,Peters, Rucker, Gunter and Mauro
Openings (2)

OLB
Set (3) CJ, Golden and Jones
Openings (1)

ILB
Set (3) KD, DB, and HR
Openings (2)

DB
Set (5) PP, Bethel, HB, Baker and Bethea
Openings (5)

DEFENSE-Set (16) Openings (10)

Special Teams

Set (2) PD, Brewer
Openings (1)

So, I have 18 Openings, going into TC, which is probably a lot more than BASK. And I understand that, and I'm expecting a couple of vet FA signings. How do you see it?

Great set up, Garth.

I agree with all of your choices, but I would add WR Chad Williams, LB Scooby Wright and CB Brandon Williams as shoe-ins.

The Cardinals aren't going to cut 3rd round picks and Wright has been drawing raves as a STs ace.

I would add Chad Williams, Harlan Miller, & Brandon Williams(unfortunately) as shoe ins.

Still not a fan of Jarvis Jones making the 53.

I think Fua makes the 53, too.

While I fully expect Chad Williams to make the team, I think I should wait until I see how he compares to the other WR's. I'm taking BA at his word when he said we have a VG WR group.

I would also like to see one of our young CB's emerge and play well at CB2. Ford or Bouka are the ones I am rooting for. No rhyme or reason, just me being a homer and hoping the staff can mold them.

Job Specs

- Aggressive in coverage.

- Quick/fast enough to keep up with man.

- Reliable tackler.

(Good ball skillls would also be nice, but I can live with the other 3).

Chad Williams, yes. Valid argument on Scooby. Brandon Williams is not a shoe-in imo. He did nothing last year. If he played special teams, I didn't notice him. Low 3rd round picks are not sacred in year 2. Sure, they could stick with him, but it's far from a guarantee.

My guess for filling the openings:
QB
It doesn't matter that BA says that Stanton is #2. Gabbert and Stanton will determine that in TC and the PS games. If there is a clear cut winner, we will probably go with two QB's with Knight on the PS. If they are about even, then we'll keep three QB's and not have one on the PS, as there won't be enough reps to go around. The battle should be a good one, since CP doesn't figure to do much throwing, and counting five games, the other three should get many opportunities to show what they can or can't do. Should be a great preseason.

RB
It looks like Williams will make the team as he's a VG runner, even if he's not a good pass catcher, which BA likes. He must improve his pass pro, and it would be nice if can develop into a short yardage RB. The last spot will probably go to AE, or a WW guy, who fits the big back description.. Penny and Summers might both make the PS.

WR
It's almost impossible to sort out the 5th and 6th WR's, before TC, as so many have something going for them. For instance:

Chad, while he's a third round guy, most figure he'll make the team. However, many so-called experts, figured he'd last until the fifth or sixth round, so he'd be less of a sure shot. I think he'll turn out to be a steal, but will wait until I see him in PS games.

Golden is the best ST guy among the receivers, and has had a good Spring catching the ball. My guess is that these are the two guys who fill the two openings, but would not be surprised if Dobson sneaks ahead of either.

Clark, Agudosi and Hogan (at least two of them) seem like PS candidates. All in all, a great battle.

TE
Momah, for me, is the leading guy for the third spot. But it seems like it will be a miracle if Momah and Niklas remain injury free throughout the PS. If they don't we'll have to sign a vet FA, or go to the WW.

I have feeling that Wroblewski beats out Valles for a spot on the PS.

OL
The two openings will go to Toner (pretty certain) and Holden (less certain), but I'm not counting out Bergstrom or John. And I have no idea who will make the PS, but I'm guessing that they might come from other teams.
