Skelton earned the start job today, I don't want to hear anything about Bulger or DA the rest of the way. Period. Go Cards, nice job Skelton.

Totally agree with you. Keep playing Skelton to give him the game experience and help develop him. I like the way he managed the game plan.

Again saw DA laughing on the sideline, this time while a rookie from the patriot league making him look silly.

If Skelton shows something the rest of the way, Bulger would be a nice backup.

I am a fan of Skelton so far.

He showed enough to get me interested in him, and so far that's a ton more than any other QB on this roster has done.

We should still take a QB if a good one is on the board, even if Skelton does well, we're so far down on the QB front we need to be careful about how thin it is.

When Hall and DA are bumped off the roster as IMO they should be, then I'll feel better, Moxy dosen't have the arm methinks and DA, well is DA.

I'd like Skelton to stay and add another QB in the draft with maybe one more FA pickup in the offseason, a seasoned vet for a couple year ride as our backup would be ideal.

No matter how much we like Skelton, we still need to sign a veteran free agent. We need to cut DA. Skelton needs to play the rest of the season so we can really evaluate what we have and what we need.

3 more games for the Skelton interview. I haven't anointed him Mr.Man yet, he did good for a rookie, only really panicked once. If he gets better as the season goes, it will be a huge plus in a pretty negative year.

Coaches can evaluate in the off season, I am really impressed with Whiz picking this kid. Shows he has some talent at finding QB talent, which most everybody (including me) was starting to question.

True.

Skelton has a lot of upside, if he just gets his footwork and the rest of his game polished up to NFL standards I think he's a keeper.

Like I said though, this year has scarred me bad, never again do I want to see DA or Moxy trot out onto that field, more is better at that position, especially with our WR talent going to waste.

I was blown away by Skelton today. Poise, arm strength and accuracy. Well done. I'd DA starts any more games I'll be pissed.

The only disappointment I found in Skelton today was in his post game interview. He should have said he takes this ish seriously. :p Then pull the dramatic exit.

That would have been cool.;)

I don't know. I'd still like to see the team bring in an experienced backup. I hope it's someone younger and hungrier than Bulger (someone who has to prove himself in the league), like Thigpen or Clemens or Alex Smith (he certainly had a nice day today).

Let's not go all Max Hall on John Skelton. There are two stages to a rookie's performance. The first is when he's new to the league and is just getting on tape. The rookie has to show that he has enough to compete at this level. Max Hall failed that test spectaculary. John Skelton seems to have kind of passed it (I'll give him an incomplete since he hasn't completed 50% of his passes as a pro yet). The second step is how he's able to overcome The League once tape is out on him.

Let's not pretend that the Denver Broncos are very good. They're not. At all. Skelton has earned a look over the next three weeks; that's it. He's probably earned the rest of his contract as at least a #2 (maybe). But this team still needs 2 quarterbacks this offseason, and someone who can legitimately compete for the starting job.

I can't say I was blown away, but I think he looks a lot like Ben Roethlisberger in there, in that he's practically unsackable. He's got a strong arm, is tough, mobile, and managed the game well. He didn't force passes, generally put them where only the receiver could catch it, and threw the ball away when the play broke down.

Smart player. I want to see more and I'm excited, but by no means am I sold on him.

Anyone and I mean anyone who wasn't impressed with his performance today is a complete and utter hater. The guy was about as poised I have have seen a rookie QB in a long long time.

His pocket presence and feel for the pass rush was pretty amazing. He was accurate for the most part and was a victim of at least 6 drops by my count. His comp % today should have been much better his WR's didn't do him any favors. He had two perfectly thrown medium to long length balls to both Breaston and Doucett that were just flat dropped in the 1st half. The throws were pretty impressive.

That play where the defender knocked him over and he spun out of it and planted his hand on the ground to keep from going down and scrambled for 9 yards was impressive as hell and a thing of beauty. He has really good balance and is quite nimble for his size.

He is far from a finished product. But so far he has shown enough that he could possibly have the goods and definitely deserves the next 3 games to audition for it.

Not to mention he did all of this with NEVER taking 1st team reps till this week. Being a scout team QB all year and not really being involved with the regular offense. To boot he came from freaking fordham.

Color me impressed so far. VERY impressed.

I was totally impressed with Skelton's play the end of the last game and this game. After watching Anderson play for so many games it was refershing to see accurate passes and no picks. Now if Whiz just does not screw this up and just name Skelton the starter the rest of the year instead of the best chance to win BS with Anderson.

You mean other than being the anti Warner and not doing **** when he got in the redzone?

I liked what I saw from Skelton too today.. But lets not go annoiting him the next heir appearent.. The dude threw zero thouchdowns in a 43 point win.. ZERO TDs in a 43 point win.. Do I have to say it again? ZERO.. 43.. No TDs..

Considering his background, and the number of reps he's had this year, you have to be impressed. Sure, the jury os still out, but for a first start, it was a VG performance. We'll see how the next three games go, and then the team will have a pretty good idea if we have to use a high draft pick on a QB. How about Jeff Garcia for a backup?

It was a good first start. He had a couple Derek Anderson-esque type throws but that's to be excpected considering he's making his 1st start. You'd think his ram strength will make his deep ball better because, like Gannon said, he was floating it up there. Those will get picked eventually. He had good poise in the pocket but, for whatever reason, the OL blocked well for him and gave him alot of time. I want to see him under some pressure and how he reacts. I like his release and decision making so far.

I am only a little more impressed with Skelton than I was with Max Hall after his first start. Not impressed by his 40% accuracy.

I was impressed by his mobility and he seemed to limit mistakes (outside of that horribly ill-advised shovel pass)

40% accuracy might be the best QB play we have seen all year. This is why I am not too impressed.... yet.

Red zone, were talkin redzone?:p (I am just glad we were in the red zone so much)

I/m with you in not rolling out the red carpet for another rookie right away. Zero TDs but much different than midget mans start. Similarities are the defense showing up when ever a new QB/ chance at life comes along.

Hall in his first start looked looked like he was out of his league, but had some crazy heart, and would get crazy which was entertaining but hurt us and him.

Skelton was the opposite, looked like he been there before, more so than Orton. His zero turnovers gave us killer field position all game long, just being able to punt was the bomb. Also his leadership, veteran looking hard counts, and friggin lasers have me impressed.
I agree in not crowning him, but I feel like throwing a barbE Q to watch next weeks game so I can invite the homies to discuss my QB. That hasn't happened all year. :)

Hopefully Skelton doesn't feel like he has earned anything yet. This was one win where he was cued up with six turnovers against a team that is in complete shambles. He did a great job in that context, but consider me unconvinced that he is a legitimate starter in the NFL. Maybe he will become one but I will need a hell of a lot more proof.
