Wow. Stoudemire's camp just did a few cartwheels. Demand goes up while supply remains the same. Chicago HAS to make two big moves in free agency now.

Bosh won't sign with Lebron. He wants to be the #1 option...JMO.

IMHO, Lebron is going to the Knicks or Nets... He'd be crazy not to. If Miami believes they can play Bosh at center, could Miami then take a run at both Bosh and Amare?? Hmmmm.....

Bosh AND Stoudemire and Wade? This is not fantasy basketball. IMHO, the chemistry looks very very doubtful

Seems like a stretch for sure... however, Boston did find a way to make it work with Garnett, Pearce and Ray Allen... should be interesting.

The weirdest thing to me is, if Chicago does build another championship contender, that it took them twelve years to do it "overnight." It's the third biggest city and home to the second greatest NBA run ever. I wouldn't have thought it would take this long.

Of course, the Knicks haven't won in almost 40 years, so there you go.

Man, what about an Amare s&t for Taj Gibson and James Johnson, straight up.

We'd pick up two youg forwards and save like $12 million, whereas CHI getting Stoudemire in this manner actually maintains about $3 million in additional cap space that they wouldn't have if they had to sign him outright. I don't know if a s&t can be that dramatic, but if it could work that way and we could net some young assets in an area of need anyways, we'd be better for it and we'd have a few million in cap space to play with....

CHI:

Rose-FA-Deng-Stoudemire-Noah

No bench whatsoever, but if they got, say, Lebron, vet bench and role player FAs would flock to CHI....

PHX:

Nash-JRich-Hill-Gibson-Lopez

Dragic-Barbosa-Johnson-Lou-Clark + cap space

That's a fine start going into next season, IMO....

That's not the worst trade I've read here. Gibson is instant improvement at defense but he doesn't rebound any better than Amare does. He's even more deficient at it. And rebounding = defense. Period.

Weird then that LeBron just enrolled his kid in a private School in Chicago.

CHI & NYK can sign two stars and MIA can sign three. One team may lose out. Is this just an arms race or have the GMs been tampering (like Kerr )? I have to think MIA would not be giving away picks and players unless they had FAs in place (as if Wade and Riley don't talk).

What would be the most "optimal" FA destinations?

MIA: Wade, LeBron, Bosh (and a bunch on nobodies)
CHI: Amare, Joe Johnson (Rose, Noah, etc)
NJ: Boozer, whomever else is left.
NY: Suck it.

With the Gibson + Johnson S&T scenario above how about:
CHI: Noah, Amare/Bosh, Lebron, Wade, Rose

CHI wouldn't be able to do that. Let's hypothetically say that Amare agrees to a s&t that has a first year salary of $15 million. We take back about $3 million from Gibson/Johnson. CHI's net is $12 million against the cap, therefore $12 million less to spend on FAs. PHX's net is $12 million to the cap, therefore, getting us probably $6 million under the cap to spend on FAs.

In this scanario, CHI has exhausted $12 million and would be left with, what, $20 million to sign another big time FA and MAYBE enough left over for a rotation veteran or two. So, there's no way they could exhaust $12 million on Amare and still sign Wade and Lebron - unless Deng was used to get one of those two on a s&t as well....

Got it. Forgot the salaries didn't have to match if one team is under the cap. And I spaced the fact that the two Bulls were on small rookie-scale contracts.

Miami's move indicates Amare is going there. No coincidence that it happened after Amare's knee examination in Miami. It's hilarious to think that Wade and LBJ could coexist on the same team other than the National team. If they really believe in having three max players they'd go after JJ. But I'd rather use that money on Salmons, Haslem, JOneal, and other complementary players.

Budding dynasty? LMAO I am sure the Lakers are quaking in their shoes, especially with Bosh likley to end up in LA still IMO. You may being just a taddddd presumptious.

Here's the awesome thing about cap room. Its useless without the right players willing to come take that money.

Bet here is they end up sorely disappointed with Joe Johnson and someone like Boozer or David Lee.

Good team. Nothing for the Lakers to worry about though.

On a side note, what the hell are the Wiz going to do with 3 PGs? No ones taking Gils contract......

Is it absurd for Arenas to play SG?

Agreed. Last i heard Kobe,Gasol,Artest and Phil are still in LA.

There's a very good reason why Chicago never did much before or after the MJ years.....he was the GOAT, and Stern doesn't have a hard-on for the city of Chicago like he does for the City of Angels.

i don't know how you think that's gonna happen. the lakers have nothing to give up in a sign & trade that the raptors will want. they'll get a better S&T deal from another team. bynum was the only chit they had and his bio reads: always injured at crunch time, limited data, considered soft, big contract just extended. no team wants that.
