It's amazing how Oubre has become the third piece of the Suns triangle going forward beside Booker and Ayton.

This is taking nothing away from other Suns players who may yet grow into this role.

When the team matures, it may compare talent wise with the Suns team that had Amare, Marion, Joe Johnson and Steve Nash.

Final piece Ja Morant or Zion Williamson??

Final pieces. Draft Zion and trade TJ Warren, the Milwaukee pick and our 2020 unprotected for the rights on Morant.

Are you freaking kidding? Morant isn't even worth the Milwaukee pick straight up. We might as well have kept Payton. He brings the same things to the table as Morant does.

Are you asking which would be preferable?

No...was asking if he thought one or the other could be the final piece.

I think if you get Williamson, get a Derek Fisher type of PG and roll with it. The Suns wouldn't need to have a top PG, just a guy who can hit a shot now and then and defend.

I don't think Warren is really all that valuable. Maybe teams would prefer Jackson?

I honestly would like to move both.

Funny how some are proclaiming Morant the final piece or saviour, when he at most can do one of those two things. (We know he can't shoot, and his defense is a question mark, as he hasn't had to defend any high level point guards.)

Ah the Ayton & Doncic/Trae dream 2019 edition. I’m down with that!

Morant
Booker
Oubre
Zion
Ayton

What a glorious dream . . .

18-20 ppg, highly efficient scorers with 3 point range on good contracts have value. If we don't get the first pick, I'd like to see what a package of our pick, warren, jj, tj, and bucks pick could get us. That's a pretty attractive package in my opinion.

It is really surprising how often 1Sun seems to post when the team is struggling vs how sparingly he posts when they're doing well.

Oh wait... no... it isn't.

Opposing runs are a Pavlov's dogs scenario to a sports troll.

Meanwhile I'm sure that whenever the Suns do officially turn the corner he will vanish like a fart in the wind.

Isn't that human nature? When your team is doing well, you enjoy it. And post about the good things that are out of the ordinary.

When a team brings up the rear as long as the Suns have (even with the #1 draft pick), of course there is more to analyze and post about.

Why must every situation be all-or-nothing in the minds of some people? Very little in life falls into that category.

"He will vanish like a fart in the wind."? Is that a fact? Are you in the position to make that claim? I think not!

Those of us who have been vocal about the poor direction of the Suns leadership since before it was fashionable are just as dedicated fans as you.

And finally, it recently became part of the national sports news and Robert Sarver has stopped making a spectacle of himself (at least in public).

But the bargain basement hires in leadership positions continue. The Suns have barely begun to turn the corner, which is only the beginning.
There is a long way to go to reach the level of NBA competence.

Right now, the only "plan" seems to be hope-for-Zion. And finally get a functioning Point Guard and Power Forward. With two marginal half-GM's
in charge. Turning the corner is like going from an "F" to a "D-minus". And hoping for luck is hardly the way to accomplish even that.

It will be great when all of us can enjoy the performance of the Suns and post about the good things that are out of the ordinary.

Yeah, I think I can make the vanishing claim. We already see it on the smaller scale in individual games.

BC, you should look through his posts, he's a troll. You're right, it shouldn't be all or nothing, but it's certainly his style.

Yup, they turned me down last year so I'm pitching a similar idea for the new season. The nice thing about it is we'd have little need for draft picks for awhile so it wouldn't kill us to toss in more to make the deal work.

Two more rookies. I can see the benefit, but without patience from ownership, management, and the fanbase, it will be a disaster.

Final piece Ja Morant or Zion Williamson??

Zion and Morant are 1 &2 in my book respectively. Either should be the final piece.

If the Suns draft Zion, then it becomes easy. Add a veteran starting point guard and add depth to solidify the team.

Morant would be a nice consolation prize. He could be plug and play like Trae Young but the Suns cannot afford to go a third season without a starting point guard. They should still add a veteran point guard for insurance if he needs time to grow into the role.

I'd just roll with TJ at the point, trade Warren for some asset, and sign Julius Randle.

TJ/Morant
Booker
Oubre/Bridges
Randle
Ayton

Make it happen Suns.

That’s a good solid offseason.

Yes I would be quite happy with that.

Gambo said yesterday, if we don't get the first pick the suns first target will be Tobias Harris. He might be an even better fit than Randle because of his 3 point shooting.

But to be honest, I am having trouble believing either Randle or Harris would want to sign with the Suns.

I like both players very much.

Randle might be starting to peak at 24. The Suns would be lucky to get either. It's hard to believe the Suns are going to pay Oubre and one of Randle or Harris their market value.

I'd go to war with that group.

Only substituting Zion for Morant would make it better. The Suns may not be able to keep Tyler because of his salary especially if they cannot trade Warren.

Paying Oubre may limit what the Suns can do.

I can't see being able to sign Randle. Maybe Mirotic.

Unfortunately, the Suns might have to salary dump Warren. Johnson is more of a trade deadline guy, unless you put a significant asset with him.

It's a bit wishful thinking.

Randle will probably make more than the Suns can pay.

Oubres development is a blessing and curse. He's going to probably get $20, and with Johnson on the roster, it'll be tough to get a good free agent PF to sign.

Draft Morant, bring him along slowly and let Johnson expire and trade Warren and Jackson. Get a FA in 2020.

For sure Johnson would have to be accompanied by an asset in a trade although his expiring contract does have some value. Unfortunately Warren may be in the same situation.

Mark my words:

If the Suns go into next season with Tyler Johnson and Ja Morant at the point, they will lose at least 60 games again, there will be tanking talk as early as December again, and Booker and Ayton (and Oubre, if he is retained) will be asking out.

For the love of God, we cannot afford to go into a third consecutive season without a legitimate point guard.

Yeah I think I prefer Harris as well. But like you I have a tough buying us as a preferred destination and there will be other clubs with $$$.
