Did we ever really have a chance anyway? I can't believe he signed with Seattle of all places. It's painful the Cards can't get the guy here sooner. Seattle and AZ have very similar DL's but they were quicker to move on the guy. :(

I would have signed with Seattle also if I was him. If someone throws a $14 million signing bonus at you, you would also.

I liked Wistrom but not at that price. Man that is a big bonus for a guy that averages 5-6 sacks a year. Personally I think Seattle way overpaid for him.

These two are mutually exclusive. Winstrom was not a speed rusher. I think that Calvin Pace is faster than he is.

I do agree with Shane that he's more skilled than anyone the Cards had, and that could have made a difference. I just think that the Cards have too many run-protecting defensive ends as it is.

That's what I meant when I said I wasn't sad to see him go! Got to remember not to smoke and type at the same time.

The problem is, if all you ever concern yourself with is price, you will miss out on the true impact players available to you. I understand the need to manage the cap effectively but at some point, every team needs to roll the dice and yes, that usually means "overpaying" for a guy.

Shane is dead on, Wistrom was another player that would have basically instantly upgraded the pass rush. He isn;t that premier sack master but he is better than we have right now.

Wistrom is a nice player, and would have upgraded the talent on the defensive line, but the upgrade wouldn’t be commensurate with a $14 mm signing bonus.

He is an excellent two-way (playing both run and pass) player who benefited from the attention Leonard Little commanded from the other side.

Him going to the Seahawks doesn’t break my heart.
