Dont you know it.................................

I know that hype is cheap at this time in the college football season -- but.....

Lets assume that the scouting dept/Denny etc really beleive that Reggie Bush is special -- the best player to come out in some time ... do you pay the price to go get him?

Would you have paid that price to get Barry Sanders or Emmitt Smith? In hindsight its easy to say yes -- but if you have a shot at a player with that potential, I think you ought to go get him.

I will also admit that I would also be okay with sitting at #8 (or wherever) and taking LenDale White -- I like the idea of adding a power back to the mix......

From some of our previous drafts we had no one that is with us and we would have been better off to trade the entire draft for one special player.

Knowing what we know now I would have traded our entire drafts pick for Manning. Some people are so special you just cannot put a price on them. You take them and build around them.
Which Manning? If you mean Peyton, that would totally be a no brainer since we don't have anyone from that draft still on our team.

IMHO Bush is a slam dunk. The only thing that will keep him from being a Hall Of Famer will be injury.

On the mark Riverfront. He makes moves I have never seen before and is all purpose.

Probably 5. Who can really be sure but for example Bush would have scored on that 32 yard run by JJ against Carolina. JJ is fast, but Bush is MUCH faster, he ran a 10.42 100 meters as a senior in highschool which was the fastest time in the country by a high school football player, finished 3rd in the state that year (all from his USC bio).

What makes Bush unique is he's not only that fast, he's elusive, the RB at USC before him was Sultan McCullough who's run under 10.2 in the 100 and is considered the fastest football player in USC history. But McCullough was nowhere near as good as bush because he was a straight ahead runner like Michael Bennett, if the hole is there he's gone, but if it's not he can't make you miss like Bush can.

Bush is that rare guy that can make moves without slowing down very much, and then can stop on a dime, and start right back up.

Ever who has the right to draft this guy is not going to trade it. He looks like a player that comes along once in a decade. What if we drafted in a position to draft him would many of you be ready to trade your draft pick.

To make a trade, you have to find someone willing to trade. Nobody will pass on Reggie Bus.

Houston may be interested if they felt that they weren't falling too low to get a impact LT.

I will make liberal use of hindsight --

Lets go back to 1989 and the last guy to put up numbers and have an impact like Reggie Bush -- Barry Sanders.

Instead of trading up to get him, you instead say, I would rather keep the picks and take the one of the next best RBs: Tim Worley, Sammie Smith or Cleveland Gary.

I guess I see Reggie Bush as signficantly better than other top 5 guys in the past few years in that while they were good, they went high simply because there was nobody better.

Reggie Bush will go high because he has exceptional talent.

You are probably right--

however, you just hope you have some team in the number 1 slot who just doesnt want to be there because of the signing bonus (I recognize I could very well be describing the Cardinals) -- and looks at moving down 5 or 7 slots, picking up a player that fills an immediate need, and picking up a bunch of picks as very appealing.

The other thing you bank on is that Reggie Bush will get nit picked to death between the end of the season and the draft -- He is too small. Can he carry the ball 22 times a game for 16 games? etc, etc, etc. The team in the number one slot may feel like its too big a risk and you give them cover with their fans by making a huge trade.

The one knock on Bush right now is his shoulder. He had arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder in the offseason and has now stated he's deciding if he's going to have surgery on it or not this offseason. So given how hot he is right now I think the shoulder guarantees he's in the draft. Best case scenario for Cards fans would be Bush can't fully workout, several teams take stupid pills and pass on him, we get him.

Just not going to happen. Based on my assumptions on us, I think we'll be deciding on draft day over either DeAngelo or Lendale vs a DL/OL/LB. But remember what happened this year everyone was positive one of the big 3 RB"s would be there for us and they all went in the first 5 picks.

Cards will go DT or OT in the first round. Bush & Leinart will go in the first two picks. Cards won't be picking that low (at least I sure hope not!).

When this team picked Fitzgerald it was picking in the one area that the analysts considered a strength. So based on that logic I dont think it makes any sense not to pick Bush because of Arrington. In past years analysts were split over who was the number one pick. In a year where it seems everybody is settling on Bush as the best and truely remarkable it seems to me that to not pick him if the team had the chance would be major mistake.

If he is a Barry Sanders or Gayle Sayers he is the kind of guy who is a paradigm shifter, the kind of guy to build a team around for years to come. Those kind of guys come around very infrequently. I think you have to get him if available. I still think the Cards could finish 3-13 and have a chance at him.

I agree with BigRedMo.

I don't think Green would hesitate to pull the trigger and draft Bush if he thinks he's the best player in the draft. His history shows he'll draft what he considers a special player no matter who is on the roster. Fitz, Moss and Culpepper are all examples of this IMO.
