I noticed Butler is more finesse than power.

Sometimes a good thing, sometimes a bad thing.

Yeah way too many crappy punts. There has to be a better option.

Although he does do a decent job at the shorter pin them inside the 20 type of punts.

I just kinda believed everyone when they said Butler is bad, after today I decided to look for myself. I came to the conclusion that he's bad. :)

The only thing saving him is he's only had to punt 12 times.

Nice chart

But I don't need a chart to know he is not good.

Why can't BA and SK see this and replace him? He can and will cost us valuable field position in a key game.

The Saints punter is worse. I saw him clank 2 off the side of his foot today both of which led to 2 Eagles TD's.

The fact there is a punter that's worse doesn't help though.

I fear that this could be the week that Butler costs us a game. Hard to believe they still haven't auditioned any potential replacements. Weatherford, the former Giants punter, is available.. hell, I'd sign him without a tryout, he HAS to be better than Butler.

Hopefully he doesn't cost us a game first, but has a bad enough game for Keim to finally say "enough" and bring in somebody else.

You know what, fair credit to this kid. He was getting tons of crap from a lot of posters--myself included--and turned in a pretty good year.

Yes even if he did better then we could imagine he still miss something
Hang time still below average and on long punts why isnt able to put the ball out of the field?

Agreed. He was a completely different player this year. As bad as he was last year, I'm glad the Cards didn't get rid of him.

I think BA is happy with Butler. I would expect Steve Keim to re-sign him.

I'll take my dose of crow too.

By seasons end, I would quantify his performance as solid. He was definitely kicking better towards the end.

Butler's average put him in 29th place out of 32. He is one of the worst in the NFL.

Is that net or gross? Where does he rank in hang time? What place is he in for touchbacks and punts downed inside the 20 and 10 yd lines.

BA seems to like him but I want competition brought into TC. I know he isn't in the top 10 of punters considering all aspects and measurables so an upgrade would seem necessary.

I still think he's easily replaced.. I feel no need to eat crow.

I am very happy he didn't cost us a game, which was my biggest fear.

He had one his best games in the NFC Championship which confirmed BA's belief in this kid. He's improving. Plus, he has shown an ability to pin the other team deep inside the 20 yard line. And he's been a dependable holder for Catanzaro.

Can't argue any of these points but I still want competition this coming TC.

Our special teams coach needs to be replaced... as of day one :D

Well, you are probably right. The ST was not good at all this year. Maybe it's because we didn't have Ginn returning punts! :p
