Bynum was actually quoted as saying that he wasnt sure if he was worthy of a max deal quite yet. The next day his agent stated that they are looking for a max deal and that Andrew is a young player who basically didnt know what he was talking about.

The question is are the Lakers crazy enough to sign him to max deal? They made it to the Finals WITHOUT him, anybody think he was the difference in the pounding they took in the finals? If they are smart they offer him a fair deal and if he wants to be stupid let him walk.

Wow, demanding a max extension for a 20-year-old who hasn't even scored 1200 career points? That takes some chutzpah.

He's going to get it, or damn close if he is healthy.

I almost spit out my low salt turkey and havarti cheese on italian bread sandwich when I read that.

I cant wait to see what I spit out when he actually gets it.

He played what, 30 GOOD games this season? And two last season?

Fail.

That's funny, I thought an agent is supposed to have your back.

No offense but he is not worth a max deal RIGHT NOW. The dude played at a high level for few games and they are acting as if he is the second coming of SHAQ. As if he is the savior. That puts pressure and too high expectations on a young up and coming player.

I think Bynum is worth the max deal in this imperfect world... I believe 80 million. Someone will pay him. IMO he's better than Gasol and better than Shaq at 100 million. Also Rashard Lewis got what, about a 120 million?

Now if the Suns could only figure out a way to get this immensely talented 20 year old. Anyway if the Suns can't get him I hope the Lakers ship him to the Eastern Conference.

Bynum is not worth a Max deal because he has yet to prove himself over an entire season let alone the playoffs. No freaking way. You don't even know at this point if the guy is going to come back 100%, let alone slip back into old habits. He is no all-star and doesn't deserve a max deal.

Also, what Shaq at 100 million are you talking about? If your talking about vintage Shaq then Bynum is not even close. If your talking about today's Shaq, nobody would pay him 100 Million dollar contract today. I am not sure I even buy the argument that Bynum is better then Gasol.

PS. Do the Lakers even have the cap space right now to offer this guy a Max deal? Bynum and his agent should just concentrate on him getting back on the court and proving he is healthy and truely raised his game before requesting more money.

Bynum has not proven he is worth the max deal but IMO he has already showed enough to the rest of the league that he will get it. As you know it is not what you have proven in the NBA that guarantees a max salary. This young man is only 20 and he is a center. I gamble his upside has not even been touched. Look at how his stats have improved in three seasons.

And if you limit it to games he has started, he averages 14.1 points and 10.8 reb per game in games that he has started. Not too bad for a 20 year old.

This is a perfect time to ask for it since he hasn't had to prove yet that his surgically repaired knee will hold up. This isn't brain surgery. If he signs a max deal and his knee doesn't hold up, woops, sorry, Lakers, but you still owe me max money. SUCKERS!

The Lakers would be STUPID to fall into this trap.

I wish the Suns had fallen into the Joe Johnson trap... for real.
