Would hate to give up our first round pick for him as he was nothing special in college but wowed everyone at the Combine and at his pro day.

Well, he has only played one year at CB as he switched positions from S so I'm ok with his college production. The question becomes, can you teach him where he is lacking, and is he football smart enough to learn. That is what it comes down to when talking about athletic freaks. Ansah was the same. It is one reason that scheme consistency is important as it allows you to take these types of guys, and let them learn how you want them to play the position.

I wouldn't hate it if they took him in round 1, but I like some other players better.

I don't think Jones ever played safety at UConn. Could you possibly be thinking of Eric Rowe, the fast rising DB from Utah?

The Jones situation reminds me a little bit of Deone Bucannon last year. Neither received a ton of buzz until late in the process (notably the combine), but also aren't workout warriors without the tape to back it up. Jones started four years at UConn, and was a team captain much like Bucannon. Both are thought to be very coachable and have a high work ethic, but aren't coming from premier programs.

Jones is thought to be best in a press-man scheme which would seem to work well here. I actually wouldn't be shocked to see him as the pick at 24.

The previous world record for the broad jump was 12-2, set Nov. 11, 1968 by Norwegian Arne Tvervaag of the Ringerike FIK Sportclub. Jones injured his left shoulder in October,ending his second season as a starting cornerback after starting at safety in 2011 and 2012. Jones skipped the 40 in February as he was recovering from shoulder surgery, but his time on Tuesday would have ranked second among all cornerbacks at the combine if he had run it there last month. According to the Hartford Courant's Desmond Conner, the Eagles had five representatives in Storrs -- including Chip Kelly -- and talked extensively with Jones during his workout.

I stand corrected, he transitioned in 2013 and not 2014. Thanks for catching that.

I really don't pay much attention to these visits. Maybe they are important, maybe they are used as smokescreens. My point is, there is simply no way for us to know. The Cowboys and the Steelers very often draft players they have brought in for pre-draft visits. In their case I can see why it's interesting to follow the prospects coming in.

Hate drafting for need, but we do NEED a CB. Also a NT, and a RB. FA losses hurt.
