"Bobby Knight not interested in Cal?
Among the possible candidates to replace Ben Braun: former Stanford and Warriors coach Mike Montgomery, St. Mary's coach Randy Bennett, Nevada's Mark Fox, Gonzaga's Mark Few and former UCLA coach Steve Lavin. She referred to that quote when asked about Montgomery and Bennett, saying each had enjoyed great success. The phrase resurfaced when one reporter mentioned Bob Knight, the winningest coach in college basketball history (albeit with significant baggage). Former Cal coach Pete Newell, a longtime Knight adviser and confidante, said Wednesday of Knight and Cal: "That's the last place he'd go. ... I think he's out of coaching for good." -- SF Chronicle "
