Calais Campbell is my wife's favorite player and I'm a big fan as well. However his cap # for 2016 will be over $15M. Is Campbell safe? Is he a player who Keim tries to work with to reduce his salary? Seems like BA was constantly having to challenge CC all season.

His stats do not match the pay but he is a leader of the team. Ill trust BASK jusdgement on this whatever they do. I like CC a lot but he is not a dynamic blitzer and he is making dynamic blitzer money. I do think if we can get more OLB pass rush help it would free him up from being double teamed so often.

Not worth the $15 million... But I can't see any way of restructuring his deal in a way that works for both sides. He turns 30 at the start of next season... We're stuck. :(

This is the last year of the deal, isn't it? I'd think he'd be a target for an extension.

Made the Pro Bowl, our best DLineman, team captain - extension is most likely, maybe go from 1 year to 3 years? Contract length is probably more difficult topic than pay.

Save $10M if he's cut.

Crazy idea.. would you cut CC, save that money, and throw $16/M a year at Mo Wilkerson. I would.

Campbell is a good DE that can have great games and can look elite when he is surrounded with some help. Campbell is not elite in my definition because he cannot get through double teams on a consistent basis. I said it once and I will say it again, the man does not have a mean streak which is his biggest problem compared to others. We keep him because he is still the only guy on our line who is better than solid and he is a good player, though maybe not what we are paying him... he needs help on that line to make a big difference and we saw what he could do with Dockett :)

He is no where near worth the $$ he's getting.

The guy is a beast, but only seems motivated occasionally.
He'll go from destroying a double team one play, and look like he's spinning his wheels in mud for the next 10.

Did he lose the ability to jump?
He used to be a monster blocking passes and kicks, seems like its been forever since I saw either.

Get him some help!!! We need some legit peeps that scare other teams OC with speed off the edge, I promise you it will free up Calais. Im tired of average players like Golden, Okafor, Schofield etc that aren't difference makers.

Couldn't imagine seeing him in a different uniform, but you are all right. He has stints and a lot of time he needs motivation of some sort to be a noticeable player. Guess we all expect more from a guy his size and what type of $ he is getting. Hopefully he gets the help he needs next year

He's a good player, but IMO, he doesn't have the nasty attitude you want to lead a defense. He needs a Dockett type player around to fill that role.

That would be Tyrann.

Hopefully. You get the feel that the DL needs that nasty streak where the secondary is further along. I'm targeting LBs and DL players with a nasty streak if I can.

Of course, they must also be captains of their college teams for Keim to consider.

I have been saying this for ever yet nobody comments on it. I saw him that one pass maybe three weeks ago but that was the first one I think all season and you can't blame double teams for that that's just keeping your eyes up and put your hands up and all effort he used to be a stud at it now it's basically nonexistent ...

Restructure his contract. He needs to take a big pay cut. We need to beef up our D badly to make another run

We need to add a beast to the DL. CC will be more than adequate if we get another stud of the Dline and FINALLY add a Pass rushing demon at OLB.

Can Gunter take that next step or 3 and become the stud his athleticism says he could be. He comes from a small program and still played fairly well when thrust into the starting NT position. Is he better suited for DE and will he put in the work this offseason?

I like Frostee but he is much more suited as a role player than starter.

I say extend CC and reduce his CAP # for this next year.

That's a lot of money. I would like to see him with help again. I don't know what they should do. Is it him or the lack of help.

He had nothing along side of him all year so he was the target of double teams. I saw him being double teamed a lot this season.
