this is from this mornings East Valley Tribune.
Despite a .356 average in spring training, Cintron lost out to Carlos Baerga in competition for the final roster spot. But Cintron, a 24-year-old switch-hitter, did not let up when the Pacific Coast League season began.
He is 31-for-68 in 16 games, with five doubles, two triples, two home runs and 15 RBIs. Cintron is batting .457 left-handed and .455 right-handed. “Every night,” general manager Joe Garagiola Jr. said, “the game report (from Tucson manager Al Pedrique) says the same thing: ‘. . . and Cintron really swung the bat well tonight.’ ”
Cintron has also excelled in one area the Diamondbacks have not: He has a .500 average (11-for-22) with men in scoring position.
He's not going to hit .456 in the majors, but, he might hit .300. With Spivey and Wohack stinking it up so bad, give the kid a chance.
